This private blog is in no way affiliated with Hillary Clinton, her campaign, or the State Department.

She would NEVER have allowed social safety nets to be "on the table."

"What I have always found is that when it comes to foreign policy, it is important to remember that politics stops at the water's edge." -HRC 11-04-10

"...whether it’s here, in the absolute best embassy in the world, or whether it’s in Washington, or whether it’s elsewhere, what a difference one woman can make. And that woman is right here, the woman who needs no introduction, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton." 07.05.10 - Unidentified speaker, Embassy Yerevan

"I deeply resent those who attack our country, the generosity of our people and the leadership of our president in trying to respond to historically disastrous conditions after the earthquake." - HRC 01-26-10

"So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you your Secretary of State, and perhaps the most respected person on the world stage today, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton." - Jon Huntsman 05-23-2010

“When people attack you, you always have to remember that a lot of what others say about you has a lot more to do about them than you.” – Hillary Rodham Clinton
She needs to come home!
Soon! Tomorrow she’s doing a ground-breaking for a new embassy – then it’s wheels up for DC.
I want her to come home, too.
I do too. But then she’s going to go to the next Syria conference in Turkey in two weeks. *sigh*
I just heard somewhere that the U.S. ranks 90th in the number of women holding elective office in the world. 90th? That’s pretty low for us, isn’t it?
True. Part of the problem is that 50% fewer women than men consider running for office. Of those, 30% fewer actually run, with only a fraction seeking higher office. (Lawless, Jennifer and Richard L Fox. It Takes a Candidate: Why Women Don’t Run for Office. New York: Cambridge UP, 2005). But many woman who might otherwise run say they were discouraged by their party. Hillary wanted to run in 2004 but was told to wait her turn — it was Kerry’s year. Then in 2008 when she did run, the party elders threw their support behind Obama who had not exactly waited his turn. Such bullsh**.
All due respect, it was Chelsea who told her mother in 2004 that if she ran for POTUS New Yorkers would never forgive her. It was not the party who told her to wait her turn.
There is more for women to consider than men. From whether you’ve struck the right balance between tough and feminine to whether you’re pretty enough. (Scoff all you want. You know people are far less likely to elect and ugly woman.) Also, qualities that are considered assets to a man in politics and even in politics generally are not assets if you’re a woman. It’s easier for women interested in policy to work for NGOs rather than run for office and that seems to be where most of them go.
Then I read where she will appear at the Senate Foreign Relations committee on Wensday. I do not know how she does it. She is one amazing Lady, God Speed Madame Secretary.
Frivolous alert:
I’ve always liked that chignon.
One woman surrounded by all men.. those pictures are striking..especially the one where you see the back of their heads and she rises above them..
