Dear Madame Secretary,
I wish you a warm, peaceful, restful, and Happy Thanksgiving with your loving family. We are lucky to have you at the helm of State, and that is something for which I am thankful every day of the year. Your hard work is much appreciated. That you go about your business with such humility and good cheer sets a wonderful example for all Americans as well as for people the world over.
Your admirers are equally grateful to your family for so generously sharing you with us and with the world. Your mother has given us an American treasure.
I say this every year, and I shall once again: I am grateful that I have the chance to be on earth at the same time as you are. The accident of birth can separate us by centuries from people in history that we might have wanted to know. That I have the chance to watch you making history in real time is a privilege. Thank you for all you do and have a wonderful holiday.
Best,
Still4Hill
Readers might like to have a glimpse into some of Mme. Secretary’s activities for the next few days. This comes, not from some social calendar, though. It is from P.J. Crowley’s press briefing today.
Philip J. CrowleyAssistant Secretary
Daily Press BriefingWashington, DCNovember 24, 2010MR. CROWLEY: First of all, happy Wednesday and, one day early, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Just to kind of set expectations, under current thinking, we will not brief on Friday. We will, through the next four days, keep you updated through various forums, including Twitter. We would expect the Secretary to have a series of calls in the coming days with her counterparts, expect, for the most part, with counterparts discussing the situation in North Korea. I think Mark flagged for you yesterday that we have calls pending with her counterparts from Japan and Korea. I wouldn’t rule out other discussions as well.
We’re mindful that Friday is the anniversary of the attack in Mumbai. I would expect that we’ll have a statement to put out. Maybe we’ll try to put that out sometime tomorrow so that it can be reported for Friday in India. But – not that there’s anything coming up this weekend, but we will be available to you during the weekend as we anticipate an emerging story, shall we say.
“I am grateful that I have the chance to be on earth at the same time as you are. The accident of birth can separate us by centuries from people in history that we might have wanted to know. That I have the chance to watch you making history in real time is a privilege.” That is my favorite part. Very well said.

I approved it over there. I am glad you had the actual passage. I can’t believe some are still trying to defend her. I was not implying that I was out to attack Palin, and I don’t think anyone else was either. I will never defend her again, however.
I hope everyone is having a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks for getting that comment out, Still. I’m making a mental note to post multiple links in separate comments so you don’t have to keep digging me out. 🙂
The actual passage is even more damning than the Politico snippets. As far as I am concerned, Palin has crossed a line she cannot uncross.

I agree. The passage speaks for itself. 🙂 Glad to dig you out of moderation any day!

AWESOME response Wonk.
you know, American politics don’t really have an effect on me since I’m not from there, but if Sarah Palin runs for president in 2012 the entire world is screwed!
That a woman like that can be considered leader of one of the most important countries in the world is a complete insult.
I don’t wish any bodily harm on ms.Palin, but I do wish she would go back to Alaska, and in the words of Barbara Bush “I hope she stays there.” LOL I laughed so hard when she said that to Larry King. When Dubya’s mother thinks you’re unqualified to be prez, you’re in serious trouble!
To her comments on Hillary, wtf? why would she bring up something from 1992?!?! Hillary is not the one your running against! you haven’t even met Hillary!
Hillary has more class, grace, and intelligence than Palin (or her family) has in their entire body.
Hillary has taken crap from the media for 20 years, that no one will ever come close to having to deal with, while you openly welcome media scrutiny.
Bottom line, you will never have the ability to be a good president, stop picking on Hillary just because she does.

That was a great post, Wonk. I couldn’t believe Sarah said that. God knows how many times I’ve defended her, but as far as I’m concerned Sarah Barricuda can fend for herself now. She lost this liberal cookie baking feminist with those comments. We’ll see how well she does without those “Militant Bra Burning Feminists” helping her. Happy Thanksgiving to Hillary, a bangin’ Stateswoman, and to you Still4hill!

Great post, Wonk the Vote! I don’t get how an unprovoked swing gets a pass because it’s from Sarah Palin. Would Rand Paul get a pass? Harry Reid? I even think that eyebrows would be raised if Bill Clinton made a comment at his wife’s expense. What blessed star was Sarah Palin born under that exempts her from being called out when she’s out of line?

Happy Thanksgiving to all here on Still’s blog. Still your the best and thank you for all you do to share HRC and her travels and part of her life with us. Yes we are the lucky ones. We not reading history about her. We are with her everyday in our thoughts and minds. Simply put, we can’t get enough of her. I would love to exchange places for a day with Huma who is at her side every hour of the day.
God Bless all of you on this Thanksgiving Day and God Bless Hillary Rodham Clinton, her family and State Dept employees.
