I am deeply saddened by the passing of Elizabeth Edwards. America has lost a passionate advocate for building a more humane and just society, for reforming our health care system, and for finding a cure for cancer once and for all. But the Edwards family and her legion of friends have lost so much more — a loving mother, constant guardian, and wise counselor. Our thoughts are with the Edwards family at this time, and with all those people across the country who met Elizabeth over the years and found an instant friend–someone who shared their experiences and offered empathy, understanding and hope. She made her mark on America, and she will not be forgotten.
That was a classy statement. I feel so sorry for the Edwards children. They’ve had such a rough time these past few years. I hope they’re surrounded by caring, supporting people who can help them get through this.

Elizabeth Edwards was a class act. Even with her battles, she got rid of that loser who put her life throught hell.
She never lowered herself to the level John Edwards’ girlfriend is currently.
To Elizabeth: We will keep your memory alive… and you are a hero for your battles and getting rid of that loser even when you were dying.
Too bad other female politicians do not get rid of their cheating husbands and show the strength you showed. You were and still are even stronger than Hillary can be when it comes to the personal life.

Heartfelt I am sure. I just wondered why you felt it necessary to bring in any comparisons to Secretary Clinton whose sentiments above were, I thought, quite nicely put.
As for who gets rid of a husband, that is best left to the people involved. Not our business.
Elizabeth faced death bravely. Hillary risks life and limb in dangerous places. Both models of strength and courage, but I saw no reason to make the comparison.

Her statements were very nice and she made another lovely statement about Ms. Edwards at TED Women this afternoon. It was on Forbes’ site but I’m not at my computer, so I don’t have it on hand. I’ll grab it later.

She did the hardest thing to do in life. She buried a child. Everything after that – everything – diminishes in stature.
In life, she gave as good as she got. She was a fighter. I will remember a lot about her. Most, I will remember that she came this close // to endorsing Hillary in late Spring 2008 in opposition to her not-yet-estranged husband over the differences between Hillary’s healthcare proposal and Obama’s. She was the voice of experience and research on that issue. Too bad she didn’t dump John earlier. It would have been a powerful endorsement.
