Secretary Clinton’s day in Berlin yesterday was packed! Yet she hit the ground running this morning once more. This time her day began with a NATO Ministerial meeting that included side bilaterals with Ukraine’s Gryshchenko, Russia’s Lavrov, and the UK’s Hague. She went on to participate in a memorial for Richard Holbooke at the American Academy in Berlin, founded by Holbrooke in 1994. Later, she received the Walther Rathenau Prize to our great satisfaction. Finally, she held a meet-and-greet and presser at the embassy in Berlin before hitting the tarmac running at Tegel Airport in Berlin and departing for Seoul.
Godspeed. Mme. Secretary! May angels watch over you!
She looks so strong and powerful here.

I won’t say any more about what she looks like in that photo. Still and Co. can wax poetic on the subject of her looks and skills and how they may or may not be used. I will say that if I were the President and I saw someone who looks as professional and capable at that in my review mirror making jokes about egomaniacs running countries, I would be afraid.

I am not a strong poet, and I don’t need to wax to any adjective about Hillary Clinton. My battle cry from the get-go has been that this is a presidential person. I knew in 2008, as I am validated in knowing now, that the DNC executed a fatal error in deleting her campaign. There is nothing poetic about that … not even poetic justice except that you actually now appear to think she is a viable leader.
I have been screaming for enough years to be hoarse. Thanks for finally hearing me or seeing her. Whichever it was.

I never doubted her abilities. It’s political calculus that makes me uneasy about a Hillary 2012 campaign, but the longer she stays out front on the Libyan Conflict, the more it starts to look like Henry V – “Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more…”, and so on. That type of thing, if left to continue, changes the equation. The more she looks like America’s Other President, the less uneasy I am about her.
Speaking of the DNC, what do you think of its new chair, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz?
LikeLike
Debbie? The Obama campaign’s attempt to get me and my tribe to send $$$$$ because the request comes from Debbie.
Shoot yourself in the foot much? When Trump uncovers The Great Cover-up, whatever it is, the DNC will have to fish or cut bait. Debbie’s there. They’ll fish.

I believe Trump’s birther proclamations as much as I believe a Fendi bag purchased off a cart in Chinatown is the real thing. Obama won’t release any documentation due to nothing more or less than his own hubris. Trump won’t back off the birther thing for the same reason – pride. It’s the Battle of the Alpha Males. It could still backfire on both of them though depending on how they play it out and that’s all due to the President. He’s the one who turned a game of go fish into high stakes poker. I thought the choice of a staunch Hillary supporter was an interesting bit of bet hedging by the party. Interesting and telling.

I think the birther hub-bub is a red herring. Trump may well have gone after something completely different that he isn’t talking about.

Even if he’s got nothing, he knows how to pretend. Even if he spend the whole election cycle just blowing smoke and raising questions Obama’s pride won’t let him answer he can damage Obama’s image enough to cost him re-election.

And the Democrats have no understudy – officially anyway.

Joe’s not the understudy?

As much as I like him, I don’t think the party would get behind Biden for a presidential bid (though I can think of many amusing campaign slogans) and there isn’t a challenger. I mean, there’s always someone that want’s to be president, but no Democrat is officially expressing an interest. Democrats have no 2012 election understudy.

I was sorely tempted to make a comparison, and resisted. I will just say that there is something about a confident smile that speaks volumes, and a confident smile can’t really be faked.

Remember when former Ambassador Jon Huntsman was singing your girl’s praises calling her remarkable? Silly question, I know. Well, he’s at it again. This is the article, but I copied and pasted the Hillarelevant part.

I always thought she had very strong charisma. I never understood why, during the primaries people said she didn’t have any and Obama was charismatic. I really think people believe things just because somebody says it. I still do not hear eloquence when Obama speaks – I see and hear somebody reading a script, i.e. an actor. I fail to get the “charisma,” but I see where HRC has it – just in the way she is received all over the world (AND here).

Yes, she has charisma, but I doubt she’s got more than Bill. I think Ambassador Huntsman was “smart powered” somewhere along the way.

Obama is a cold fish, his charisma is only for public consumption. He’s warm with his family, but as an aide put it, “he’s not sentimental”. While Hillary appears colder in public than she really is. It’s her way to protect herself. In private she is passionate about issues, friendly, easy to laugh, caring and compassionate. Aside from having a wicked sense of humor. She’s also very loyal to those who are loyal to her. Look at Huma Abedin, she’s been there since Hillary’s WH days and she is still working for her.

Yeah, a lot of her people have been around for a while. New people don’t seem to be her style, but it seems to serve her well.

Totally off topic, but geekily mindblowing. I just learned that the Clintons were in a Superman comic. Actually, there are a lot of presidential guest appearances in comics and such. Go figure!

Yeah, I know. I wanted to share the weirdness. At least the artist was kind enough to her. I looked up presidential comic book appearances and the best one was Richard Nixon. So funny! The least humorous man ever shows up in a comic book.

That Vogue article won’t ever go away. Now they’re wondering if she just has a thing for British men. I love that there are some who find her effect on these gentlemen so amusing, but at the same time I feel bad that one off hand comment two years ago won’t just fade away.
