Another short day in the public eye. I wonder what she’s devoting all of her off the record work time to. If it’s important we’ll know soon, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s more important than Secretarial Maintinance. New Israel/Palestine plan? A shift in our alliance with Pakistan? Major tech upgrades at State? What is she spending so much time on?

Well, she has a busy week-and-a-half (at least) coming up, and the FP article from Wednesday depicts a crumbling Mid-East Peace situation.

So I would guess all of the above plus. I do, however, hope she has an eye on the domestic situation. Some folks I know are near apoplectic. What is going on in DC is outrageous! We all thought GW Bush would be the one to take down the Roosevelt social safety nets. Who even dreamed it would be a “Democrat.” I put that in quotes because Obama is so far from the principles of the Democratic Party I grew up in that I can no longer call him a Democrat. Jon Huntsman is more of a Democrat than he is (to the annoyance of his own party).

I agree. Fundamental Democratic Party beliefs could be traded away on a debt ceiling debate. Everyone knows that it will be raised eventually. What’s he going to give up when there’s a real fight to be had?

Hope it’s something great and personal!

Unfortunately, right now, all of our futures are on the table. SS for the younger working generation, for one thing, but if it affects those under 55,(or over).
For young people that means something worse than my “sandwich” generation dealt with. Not only do your parents have to move in with you, which, of course, you won’t mind – having them with the grandkids will be nice – but you will also have to cover deductibles on medical care for them (and you and your kids) since medicare will entail that at the very least. It will be like living in a 3rd world country. It was not that hard for me.

Yep, and if you consider that some economists say that the careers of those in my generation who have been effected by the recession have been stunted by fifteen years if not permanently damaged and that people are having fewer children, it is plausable that someone my age could in the not-so-distant future be in a home with their spouse their children, their parents, and their inlaws with only theirs and their spouses income supporting the family. That doesn’t sound like middle class prosperity to me. It sounds like poverty. Like coperate serfdom.

BINGO! Just like a 3rd world country. Like the Haiti I knew before the earthquake. (At least people had roofs over their heads then.) The next step is to have as many babies as possible in the hope that a few will survive infancy and the seduction of criminality to support you in your old age.

Well, the more babies you have, the greater the odds are that one of them might be successful enough to care for you and your spouse in your old age. And with all those little ones at home, I’m sure that women will be encouraged to stay home with them. Then we can all party like it’s 1955.

That was pretty much the year I was going to put us back at. Great minds!

Perhaps they’ll ressurect the House Committee on Unamerican Activities to complete the picture. I can think of many people who would love to see that.

A very scary possibility. In a new guise that, as YOU know, has been part of the American fabric since the Salem with trials.
