Washington, DCJuly 27, 2011
Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver keynote remarks Thursday, July 28, at the Development Exchange Forum to highlight the need for accessible health services for women at the time of birth. She will also commend 77 finalists of the Saving Lives at Birth program for their extraordinary dedication to this issue. This event will take place at approximately 9:15a.m. in the Atrium Hall at the Ronald Reagan Building.
These 77 innovators from around the globe will be in Washington, DC to display their ideas in an open marketplace for the final stage of a competition that aims to find novel ways to deliver new technologies and services to mothers and newborns who live in rural areas of the world and don’t have access to health facilities.

OT: This is a great post about Tim Gunn and George Lopez’s sexist trashing of Hillary.

I saw that. Love Jezebel’s retort. Lopez should lose his spot. This is not the only line his show has overstepped. That conversation with Gunn was WAY out of line.
That said, I thought she WAS the Secretary of Style! We’ve been calling her that for two-and-a-half years!

I have my problems with Madame Secretary’s sartorial choices from time to time (that tan visor springs immediatly to mind) but I would never say that the Secretary is “confused about her gender.” I would love to know what they had to say about other public sector figures. Does the cut of Chris Christie’s suits make his butt look big?

As someone from NJ I can say they do make his butt look huger than he is. I wish he would lose some weight though. It would be good for him personally and politically. Physique wise he’s more Taft than Reagan.

I am very mindful of that old saying about glass houses when it comes to weight, so I generally won’t comment if someone seems happy and healthy, but Christie had that breathing issue today and I think he should take that as a hint to get a little healthier and maybe a little slimmer as well. I believe that there is room for a big man in politcs as long as he’s healthy. A big woman is a whole other story, of course. That’s never happening.
I don’t agree with Governor Christie on much of anything, but I hope he takes good care of himself so he’s in proper fighting form when he’s beaten by a strong democrat.

Write to TBS and complain. I did. I don’t know if it’ll help, but I felt better.
Two sexist a-holes!!! What positive contribution have these two jerks made to society? They both can go and eff themselves!!!

This isn’t some silly love letter of an article, either. This is serious praise for serious work. This is also the second article I’ve read today praising her political skill.

She’s a serious person who does serious work! Seriously! You’re surprised?

I’m not surprised that she’s pretty much all business and very good at accomplishing that business, but usually articles about her talk about her charming world leaders or just skim the surface of the issues she’s working on. This one got into it a little and that was a nice change.

It’s nice to see that someone was watching the hard work she put in on this trip along with the concrete results. Rothkopf takes her very seriously. He has written similarly about her in the past.

Yes, it was all about her work. I think that she would like this article if she read it. It’s not about superficial things like her clothes or hair.
