           Well, If the body within the jacket was less curvy, I think it could look more like menswear – pink menswear, but menswear. It’s the girl that makes the jacket.

       I wonder if this stuff still bothers Bill. She doesn’t care about comments like those of Mr. Gunn, but he still like to be her protector sometimes. I can imagine that he gets a little irked by people who go after his wife like that. I thought is was funny that she decided to wear a pink jacket and pearls the day after everyone was talking about her being called “confused about her gender”.

           He has been quoted as wanting to punch a few of her detractors, but I think those were Presidential era quotes. Still, even though he says it less, he probably thinks it just as much as he ever did.

   Here is a story about Bill protecting her:
   I read a story from a N.Carolina delegate during the primaries about what happens when you “diss” Hillary in front of Bill and it’s NOT pretty!

   According to the delegate,it happened in N.Carolina. Bill was leaving a rally he had done and there was a line of press waiting for him. One of the press yelled out something about Hillary being a racist b-word .Bill supposedly stopped cold in his tracks and turned to see who had said it .All the media reporters around the man slowly moved aside so it was clear who had said it. Bill approached him,put one hand on his shoulder and with the other put that long finger right in his face. You know he is angry when he does that. He then told the man that if he ever said it again,the Secret Service would be the least of his problems! He supposedly used some very colorful language too, and told the rest of the press that it better NOT show up in the news, and it never did. According to delegate who traveled with Bill, he was absolutely enraged and looked as if he was ready to tear this guy apart. Bill ripped into him about him calling Hillary racist by reminding him of all he and Hillary have done for the AA community. It was apparently quite the site.
   Those who are with Bill say that he is VERY protective of her and will just go off on someone who says anything disrespectful about her in front of him.

     This is from an obituary of the late conservative columnist William Safire.

     Years later, Mr. Safire called Hillary Clinton a “congenital liar” in print. Mrs. Clinton said she was offended only for her mother’s sake. But a White House aide said that Bill Clinton, “if he were not president, would have delivered a more forceful response on the bridge of Mr. Safire’s nose.”

     There was also that famous on-camera moment with Jerry Brown. In his biography Bill had this to say about the incident.

     I shouldn’t have lost my temper, but the charges were plainly baseless. Subconsciously, I suppose I also felt guilty that Hillary had been forced to defend me so much, and I was glad to be able to rise to her defense.

     Though lacking in threats to punch someone, a real trove of Clintonian cuteness in the book The Clinton Tapes. If I start pulling passages from that, this will turn into storytime really fast. I’ll include just one because it’s too cute for words.

     As our diary subjects succumbed to fatigue, Hillary stopped by wishing she could go to bed, but she had to get her hair done first because her roots were showing. “I love your roots,” the president told her with a weary smile.

       Great! Terrific Clintonia! Awww… “I love your roots”… can it get any cuter and sweeter?

       As for Safire’s nose (and aside from his temporary contempt for HRC, I was a dyed-in-the-wool follower because of my actual job), he redeemed himself in the end- not long before his death – by giving her “snap in the DRC’ a pass. Translation – translation – translation. (She was amazed. “Bill Safire defended me?”)

         I found this one in The Clinton Tapes when I was looking for the previous one. I thought it was appropriate for this weekend.

         Hillary came in as we began, still in her topcoat and scarf, flushed from a stressful event. We stood and I fidgeted through their mysteriously long embrace. When he asked about her evening, she said she had been teary through the the whole wonderful program. Sidwell Friends had staged its mother-daughter banquet, she explained for my benefit, with skits and speeches built around moms and their senior girls facing the big world beyond high school. She already felt the impact of separation even though Chelsea was only a freshman, with three years left. Hillary smiled in disbelief, asking how she could be a mess so far ahead. Three years left, she repeated. Clinton chimed in with his own wry complaint that the school held three separate banquets – mother-daughter, father-son, and mother-son: one for each permutation except father-daughter. He said gender bias blocked his only chance, and vowed to organize something before Chelsea graduated.

           Another really sweet story.. Bill was right, That was weird – no father-daughter event. I wonder if that has been addressed at Sidwell Friends since a new crop of First Daughters now attend! I am not exactly blown away by this POTUS (as you all know), but their should be an event for the dads to be with the girls. The Obama daughters (and all the daughters) should have that.
