When I decided to post links to articles relating to Hillary Clinton running for POTUS, I had no idea I would be updating every couple of days. It is not that they are coming on fast and furious. It is that collecting and holding onto several of them for days, or a week (I originally thought this would be a weekly feature) deprives readers unnecessarily of the latest information on the subject.
Here are more. If I see additional ones today, I will add them to this post. This one is actually from April, but it is circulating in the news feeds today.
Will Hillary run for 2012? Poll shows 68% approval rating among Americans
The possibility of a last-minute presidential dash by Hillary Clinton has been raised after it emerged that her popularity among voters has almost reached an all-time high.
The Secretary of State’s favourable rating among Americans has soared to 66 per cent from just 61 per cent in July 2010.
This is from today. I have no idea who the real sources are for this, I am simply sharing and you can draw your own conclusions.
HILLARY CLINTON TO CHALLENGE BARACK OBAMA IN 2012!
Posted on Sunday, August 7th, 2011
By Frank LakeWASHINGTON, DC – Sources close to Hillary Clinton say she will announce her run for President in 2012.
SNIP
…WWN has learned that in recent weeks, Bill Clinton, has been meeting with democratic operatives in Washington and grass roots leaders early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Bill thinks this time around, Hillary can easily wrestle the nomination from a weakened Barack Obama.
That is what some of us have been speculating for months.
SNIP
Republicans and Tea Party Patriots are… very worried. VERY worried.
We have a resident mole who snoops and spies on the Republican and right wing blogs and radio shows. This is what Jen has been telling me for months! That the Republicans are terrified that she will run.
One Keatsian comment, I have loved that picture of Hillary from the first moment I laid eyes on it and used it as my avatar for a long time. I support her because she is strong, smart, and right, but could she BE any cuter?
Finally, here is a follow-up from Matthew Dickinson.
A Clinton Challenge: Good for Democrats, and Good For The Nation
Categories: Uncategorized The reaction to my last post, (cross listed here at Salon) was a replay of the 2008 primary Democratic primary battle; closely fought, with passions running deep on both sides. Strong cases were made both for and against my argument, made in the guise of a generic Democrat, that Hillary Clinton should challenge President Obama in 2012. Boiling down the comments to their essence, supporters of a Clinton run make two essential points: First, Obama is in electoral trouble, and Clinton will likely run stronger in the general election, particularly among independents. Second, Obama has had his shot, and the results just haven’t been good.
The GOP is terrified she will run because they know she has established firmly her credibility as a power figure and as a no-nonsense achiever of elusive goals that no one else seems to master. Look what she has done with foreign powers!
Other reasons: She is a politically-desirable woman at a time when female leaders are finally becoming recognized as the ideal balance for male leaders. The last prosperous era for this country was under her husband’s leadership 1993-2001. Who can argue with the benefits of “pillow talk” between the two?
Obama’s tenure, I regret to say, can be compared to Allende’s presidency in Chile, as in “it’s the economy, stupid.” Obama won’t be subjected to a military coup by the right wing like Allende but the economy will cause a tremendous loss for him. No corporate power, even those bailed out by our tax money, will create jobs between now and election 2012 because they want him gone.
Hillary is far more acceptable to both sides at this point in time. If, however, either side thinks she will cater to them they are mistaken.
She is firmly entrenched as a leader who can and will save all of us, not just the big boys.

Wow! I didn’t know he had been compared to Allende. Women unite! You know who brought Allende down – it was all those women in the streets banging pots and pans with cooking spoons!

finally we Hillary supporters are looking like the smartest people in the room. I guess we’re not being called racists anymore!!!
My only concern is if she’d make it through another bruising primary. But Madame secretary——your country is calling out to you!!!!

I am the one comparing him to Allende because I remember when he was “removed” by the Chilean military. This, of course, was during the Nixon years and it is now known he instructed the CIA to get rid of Allende economically or militarily (my take on it).
How much more right wing can you get here? Allende was a socialist who was dangerous to corporate power and he had to go in the interest of US economic and political policies. No more Communists were wanted in this hemisphere. It makes no difference to corporate interests that people are starving, jobs are lost, and solid footing is lost. Sound like today?

The movie “Missing” put that operation squarely on the shoulders of the CIA. It was directed by Costa Gavras noted for political docudramas like “Z.”
I certainly think the comparison stands up. Allende’s “social experiment” was swept into office and in much the same way that Obama’s “hope & change” agenda was, and both failed..

Hillary has yet to respond to any of this latest 2012 talk and I haven’t seen or heard Bill anywhere either. But where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
The Weekly World News is the same tabloid that once published a story in the 1990s about Hillary adopting a space alien baby. The article said she even fixed up a nursery for it in the White House. 🙂 So I don’t know what to make of this latest story. Obviously, the part about Hillary walking into the Weekly World News headquarters and complaining about Obama is not true.
The paragraph about Bill meeting with grassroots leaders in early primary states may contain the kernel of truth that exists in most tabloid articles. If Hillary is even on the fence about running, someone needs to be doing this for her. But if it’s Bill, wouldn’t it attract too much attention too soon? I would think she’d get someone less visible to do this kind of legwork at this stage. And no, I don’t believe Bill Clinton did a phone interview with the Weekly World News.
The Rasmussen poll, I haven’t seen. Maybe it will be released Monday? If it exists, our own Hillary people will find it and it will be all over Facebook soon enough.
Dick Morris on the Hillary For President team? Bwahahahaha!!!!!!! Begala maybe. And I wouldn’t put it past Carville to be the true author of this article.
The line about the worried Pubs and Tea Party people is very much true and has been for months. I’ve seen it myself while digging in the wingnut mines.

I know. Parts of that article are just too unbelievable. I don’t expect her to respond to all this unless forced. And then she’ll say something that will boomerang all over the nets.

Ok The show is over for Obama…He acted his role very well and got him the highest ranking position one could have in American Politics but clearly it was just acting and no actual performance. Unfortunately, America supported his acting career and we are paying for it big time. So Let’s stop the acting, Time to be realistic, time to be smart about our current situation and it is time to give Hillary Clinton the chance to prove that she got what it takes to fix our broken country. God bless Hillary and God Bless the United States of America.

When did HRC said she was leaving the SOS position? I know she said when Obama’s term is over, but if she is running for office, she should leave earlier. I guess if that happens is when I start believing the rumors.
If she enters, that will certainty opaque the Republicans candidate and it will be all people talk about.

She didn’t exactly give a date. The debt deal is going to cut her budget to shreds and make it hard for her to do her job.

Stay tuned here. If there is anything to do, we will let you know. For now, we are encouraging people, as they can, to make contributions to HillaryClinton.com in the amount of $20.12. We did a “flash mob” of contributions on August 12. Probably will do another on September 12, and plan to also on her birthday! It looks very cool on your bank statement: Hillary Clinton for President $20.12.
