I smiled to see them ranked as one. I could argue pretty powerfully for why they should have ranked ahead of certain folks on the list. Really? Obama and Cheney rank above them? Well, it is what it is. These lists sometimes leave me scratching my head. Nonetheless, they are in excellent company as one of my very favorite “global thinkers” (and Twitter follower) Bernard-Henri Lévy is number 22 (right behind Sarkozy). I will give BHL a nice fat tag on this post. I miss him. Since CNN took Spitzer off, I never see BHL anymore. He is a big fan of HRC and simply brilliant. So 20, 21, 22 are all OK by me!
The FP Top 100 Global Thinkers
Foreign Policy presents a unique portrait of 2011’s global marketplace of ideas and the thinkers who make them.
The Clintons are nothing if not the ultimate survivors. Nearly two decades after they burst onto the national stage, they are still dominating it, with Hillary mounting an extraordinary comeback to the extent that she now polls as America’s most admired political figure, while Bill virtually runs a parallel United Nations from his Manhattan offices.
So being the most admired political figure and running a parallel UN only gets you to number 20 and rankung below Dick Cheney, the Curmudgeon and Chief? Oh come on, now!

HOW THE HELL IS DICK CHENEY ABOVE THEM?!?!?!?! I can understand Obama because all these lists always put the POTUS at the top no matter who it is, but the Cheney thing doesn’t make sense!!!!!!

It’s a snub. THey should be #1 for all they have done and the extent to which they will both influence the future for the 21st century. Even the picture chosen is not representative of the couple’s relationship except that they are influencing the world from two different points of view, which is accurate.

Those heading up this year’s list were all Arab Spring related. As to the picture, artistically speaking, I think it’s very well put together – it’s actually one of my favorites. It couldn’t be more striking if someone had gotten them to pose like that. They both look so powerful. I’m not sure there is a published photo out there that is representative of the Clinton’s relationship with each other, but I think this one does a good job of representing their professional lives.

Yeah, Obama, Cheney, and Rice surpass the Clintons. It is a joke.

Both Clintons offer something unusual in world politics: their trademark optimism. At this year’s Clinton Global Initiative, Bill described as a “no-brainer” a plan to create 1 million new jobs by retrofitting buildings to make them more energy-efficient. “Usually when things sound too good to be true, they are,” he said. “They aren’t here.” Hillary, meanwhile, cheered the rise of participatory democracy: “We really are in a new age.”
One of the many reasons why I love both of them. Imagine just how much more they could have done from the WH.
