Hillary Clinton admitted to hospital with blood clot

Clinton, photographed here on Dec. 6 at Dublin City University, canceled a trip to Morocco earlier this month after a bout of flu. She was hospitalized Sunday after doctors discovered a blood clot stemming from a concussion she sustained earlier in the month.

Philippe Reines, a State Department senior advisor, said in the statement that the clot stems from a concussion she sustained several weeks ago.

OK, now I’m officially worried sick. A blod clot where? My friend who has been a nurse for more than 30 years says that a mention of a clot doesn’t mean that it is in her brain. It could be somewhere else in her body.
I’m praying for a speedy recovery. My thoughts are also with Bill and Chelsea.

DVT happens to people who have been in the same position for long periods of time (common in long flights). It is a clot that forms deep in a vein, usually in the legs. She may have been in bed for an extended amount of time. She also may be prone to have them, as she had one in 1998.

Thanks, much better than in the brain. She had one in 1998. Hopefuly they’ll disolve it with the anticoagulants.

bea, a doctor i just saw on CNN said it’s likely NOT in her brain because they’re treating her with anticoagulants. god, i hope so!

Thank you. I’m a little more relieved that it’s not in her brain. DVT clots are still dangerous because they can travel to the heart or lungs. Hopefully the anticoagulants dissolve hers.

I don’t understand why, if she was bedridden, they didn’t have those compression boots on her like they put on me when I had my appendectomy. She should have had those boots regularly on her plane when she slept.
