How can you not love this story? The header alone makes me smile. The story refers to a study out of Europe which showed that women made longer, more effective political speeches when they saw Hillary’s face.
Just Seeing Hillary Clinton’s Face Improves Women’s Public Speaking
A new study finds women give longer and more confident political speeches when they are exposed to images of female role models.Posted 04.19.2013 at 11:00 am
Encouraging Hillary Lawrence JacksonWhat do women in politics need? Strong female role models.
A new paper in the May issue of the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology suggests that even just seeing images of female role models can help women speak publicly and perform as leaders.
SNIP
… scientists asked 149 students from a Swiss university (81 women, 68 men) to give a persuasive political speech against increasing student fees, within the context of a virtual reality program that put them in front of an audience of six men and six women. For some participants, the back wall of the virtual room featured a hanging picture of Hillary Clinton. For others, it showed a portrait of Bill Clinton or Angela Merkel, and for some the wall remained blank.
The researchers timed and videotaped the speech, then asked the students to evaluate their performance. A separate group of people unaware of the experimental conditions watched the speeches and rated them based on fluency and body language.
Virtual Politics: Latu et al.Both the people watching the speeches and those giving them perceived longer speeches as being more positive. When there was no role model in view, men spoke longer than women. The same held true for speaking under the withering gaze of Big Bill.
Female role models eliminated the gender gap, though. Women gave longer speeches and evaluated themselves more positively when they were primed with with images Hillary Clinton and Angela Merkel than when they saw Bill Clinton or weren’t primed at all. The outside observers also rated their speeches higher.
That is awesome

It is, and it’s true! I’ve tried it before; when in a stressful situation or when I’ve needed courage to do something Challenging for me, I’ve tried to think for a moment that I’m Hillary and think what would she do.Maybe it sounds crazy, but I’ve done it before and it has worked!!!

In my personal life I tend to be private and shy, but, in my professional life, I have never been much of a shrinking violet. I work and fight hard. Do my homework – always have. From the night of the “gang-bang debate” when I saw Hillary’s game face, I have noticed that my effectiveness in committee meetings took a huge upturn. I got applause for presentations and overwhelming approval of what I presented. It didn’t seem to take as much of a fight to get my proposals through. I think Hillary’s game face did that for me. I always think of that face when I have something important to argue.

The ones who really need to know about this study are teachers. I’m not saying Hillary’s portrait should hang in every classroom in America– that sounds like something the commies would do. But there should be photos of strong female role models, especially in middle school and high school classrooms.

That’s a good point – and not just one month of the year! Not only commies did that. When I lived in Haiti, Papa Doc’s pic was in every room. One night my roommates and I were drinking rum and cokes and one got up the nerve to take the pic down in the apartment we were renting. We thought the landlady would be angry. Believe it or not, nothing happened!!!

It doesn’t surprise me. Hillary is truly inspirational to many girls and women around the world. Her stint as SOS has served to enhance her stature with them even more.
