Diane Lane’s newest role? Playing Hillary Clinton! NBC announced on Saturday, July 27, at the 2013 Summer Press Tour that the actress, 48, will portray the former Secretary of State and First Lady in a four-hour miniseries titled Hillary.
According to USA Today, NBC’s entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said the miniseries will likely air before Clinton is rumored to declare herself as a presidential candidate for the 2016 race.
“She’s not going to probably declare her candidacy for two more years, so this could well have aired before that,” Greenblatt said.
The series will look at Clinton’s life as “a wife, mother, politician and cabinet member from 1998 to the present,” NBC said in a press release to Us Weekly. “The script will begin with Clinton living in the White House as her husband is serving the second of his two terms as president. In the years following, she would eventually become a United States senator, run for president and, ultimately, serve the country as secretary of state.”
They’d better fit Ms. Lane with blue contacts.
One of my pet peeves is when a brown eyed actor plays someone famous for blue eyes and vice versa.
Sela Ward as Jessica Savitch, for example.

I don’t think contacts can actually make brown eyes blue, though. I have a brown-eyed friend who tried that for awhile. It just made her eyes look dark purple.

That might be a problem, because Hillary has the biggest, prettiest blue eyes.
I’d find Lane’s brown peepers distracting.

Hillary’s eyes are one of her biggest physical attributes, they are very pretty and a deep blue. Contacts will not help Diane.

Ms. Lane will do fine. It’s about Hillary and I bet the miniseries will be awesome.

I agree. She knows how to project intelligence which, to me, is the most important thing about playing Hillary.

I hope that the script is good. I’ll watch it, hoping that it’s not negative and tawdry.
