Gaston Hall at Georgetown University is a familiar environment for Hillary. As Secretary of State, she spoke there several times. The deep, burnished woodwork and religious murals always seem to complement her classic beauty which was on full display today. Current Secretary of State, John Kerry, instructed male students on how they might capture the attention of a woman so awesome.
The program was in two parts. There were remarks by the three principals followed by a panel discussion led by former Ambassador for Women’s Issues, Melanne Verveer wherein questions were addressed to Hillary and Mrs. Bush.
The main theme of the event was twofold: progress made over the past 10 years in including women and girls in all aspects of Afghan society and maintaining that forward motion after American and international troops pull out and leave Afghanistan to its own resources. Afghan women were assured by all speakers at this event that neither the United States nor the international community will abandon them and their aspirations.
Vodpod videos no longer available. Here is a real treat! Hillary tweeted, not once, but twice from this event. Obviously she thoroughly enjoyed participating in an initiative so close to her heart.

Actually, Hillary and Laura were excellent together. Stills are so often deceptive. They capture a moment and things might not be what they seem. In that pic, he was hugging Hillary and Laura was reaching out to shake his hand. I just watched this on CSPAN. Excellent event. On again at 2:40 EST.

Not a great fan of Kerry, but the pics are fantastic. As Rachel said, Hillary is so expressive.

Well, it was clear in 2012 that he was her pick to succeed her. 1. She gave him the keynote at the Chiefs of Mission convocation as if introducing them to their next boss. 2. That tête-à-tête at the Saban Institute event where they showed the tribute video about her. Susan Rice wasn’t even there. When I saw them whispering I was sure he was her pick. They like each other and get along well. He wasn’t bitter when Obama chose her. He was patient and eventually got the position he wanted.

I guess that Hillary knows him longer and maybe likes him better than she liked Rice, but in my book he’s no Hillary.

No, he’s not, but before there was Hillary 2008, there was John 2004, and I campaigned and voted for him. I like him. True, he is no Hillary, but there is only one Hillary. John is carrying on. He has Hillary’s support – and mine.

This is not a positive development in light of what both Hillary and John Kerry said about this security pact.
