She would NEVER have allowed social safety nets to be "on the table."
"... ratify the Law of the Sea Convention, which has provided the international framework for exploring these new opportunities in the Arctic. We abide by the international law that undergirds the convention, but we think the United States should be a member, because the convention sets down the rules of the road that protect freedom of navigation, provide maritime security, serve the interests of every nation that relies on sea lanes for commerce and trade, and also sets the framework for exploration for the natural resources that may be present in the Arctic." -HRC, 06-03-12, Tromso Norway

"...whether it’s here, in the absolute best embassy in the world, or whether it’s in Washington, or whether it’s elsewhere, what a difference one woman can make. Salon and CNN (to name a few) are printing “exposes” about both Clintons, every day.
Still, you know that I’m not a concern troll, but I wonder how Hillary can prevail against a media determined to see her fail, and a part of me wants her to take her beautiful marbles and go home.
Of course, that why I’m me and she is Hillary.
Any thoughts?

“Concern troll” is a term I have always had a problem with. Sometimes it has seemed you could not take a reasonable, cautioned position without earning that title. I believe the most extreme example came earlier this year when a story circulated that some of Hillary’s closest inner circle had strong reservations and they were called concern trolls. Her closest friends.
I have refrained, since the drum beat for her to run reached deafening decibels, from focusing on the demands (and I consider them demands) by some and the hatchet jobs by others and tried to remain narrowly focused on her work, appearances, and book tour above the fold here.
That said, I think Hillary has the most balanced and circumspect view of any of us, has some idea of what she can and cannot accomplish, and will decide later whether she will take on the challenge. I doubt that the ‘encouragement’ is going to have a lot to do with her decision. I think it will be a very clear-eyed one and the people influencing her most will be her family – not what they tell her to do. I think they know they cannot tell her what to do. But it will be where she wants to be in relation to her family that will help her decide.

Of course, I agree, and I’ll be behind her whatever she decides.
She owes me nothing.
