Earlier today, Time published excerpts from Mitt Romney’s as-prepared speech at Mississippi State. Among the prepared remarks were these.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cluelessly pressed a reset button for Russia, which smiled and then invaded Ukraine, a sovereign nation. The Middle East and much of North Africa is in chaos. China grows more assertive and builds a navy that will be larger than ours in five years. We shrink our nuclear capabilities as Russia upgrades theirs.
There really is nothing earth-shattering in Romney’s cluelessness, but I thought it would make sense to point out that Russia’s economy is in shambles and not about to recover. While she was Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton made sure Russia could do no such upgrading. Shouldn’t a presidential candidate have some knowledge of foreign affairs?
If this is an example of a big Romney attack, bring it on! He doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.

Remarks
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of StateWashington, DC February 5, 2011
Today, we exchange the instruments of ratification for a treaty that lessens the nuclear dangers facing the Russian and American people and the world. Two years ago, we all laughed about the translation of the ceremonial “Reset Button” that I gave the Foreign Minister in Geneva, but when it came to the translation that mattered most, our two countries, led by our two presidents, turned words into action to reach a milestone in our strategic partnership. And when it comes to the button that has worried us the most over the years — the one that would unleash nuclear destruction –today, we take another step to ensure it will never be pushed. Our countries will immediately begin notifying each other of changes in our strategic forces. Within 45 days, we will exchange full data on our weapons and facilities, and 60 days from now we can resume the inspections that allow each side to trust but verify.

Well that didn’t take long. Yesterday Al Jazeera America was running a ticker header saying that after this wrong-headed speech by Romney, key donors turned to Jeb Bush. Then today, this.
Mitt Romney all smiles at Manhattan luncheon after deciding against a 2016 presidential run

All’s well that ends well.
Hillary was not Secretary of State when Russia invaded Ukraine. That happened over a year after Hillary stepped down.

And five years after the reset! And Putin wasn’t even president during reset! You will wait in vain for anyone in the media to point out these facts. Their narrative on this is Romney was right on Russia. My head is exploding!

Btw, it is not a “gaffe” to observe that businesses and corporations don’t create jobs. They hire and fire people in response to demand, as I’m sure Mitt Romney knows having hired and fired many. Even though he ran last time only wanting to talk about his hires, the jobs are created by the demand. People lose jobs due to lack of demand. People go into business to make money when they perceive a demand, not to create jobs. The GOP has dubbed business owners “Job Creators” to protect them from being fairly taxed, and it’s worked brilliantly.

I’m glad to see your post setting Mittens straight, Still. How odd that Mitt was so quick launch this deceitful attack on Hillary, who has not yet declared her candidacy. He managed to get through an entire campaign against Obama without getting tough – even tho there was plenty of real ammunition he could have launched, if only he had possessed the guts to do so.
I have a feeling a lot of people will find it easier to unjustly slam Hillary than they ever did Obama – even when criticism would have been more than justified. Not to play the gender card, because Hillary would never want that. But, we know Hillary will held to a higher standard as POTUS (if she runs) than a male would. Most of us females are quite familiar with that double standard in the work place. Hillary certainly knows what that’s like, and she’ll be more than capable of handling it.
Even still, if people are going to criticize, especially possible presidential candidates, they need to at least, get their facts straight. Otherwise, they either appear to be poorly informed or just plain deceitful. In this case, Mittens may be a little of both.

People are baffled as to why Romney is considering another run. Maybe it’s because he knows this time the media will assist him.

and why do the media and GOP keep acting as though the clintons’ wealth were an issue? if you favor progressive policies like hillary does, it makes no difference how rich you are. it’s what you want to do as president that matters, and hillary is hardly out of touch.

Oh, haven’t you heard? She’s only advocating for progressive policies because of Elizabeth Warren. LOL! This is another media narrative that drives me crazy.

hillary was just as much of a progressive in 2008, when elizabeth warren wasn’t even in he senate. lol. so many of the media narratives about hillary are ridiculous. but it’s always been that way.

Mitt is clueless and a liar. I swear I don’t understand politics! How can you say such things about a person knowing they are lies and then have their family work with yours and smile in their face.
