If your memory goes back to the early nineties, you will remember Arsenio Hall‘s running routine, Things that make you go hmmmm….
Hillary Clinton has stated that she would testify publicly and has asked that her emails be released to the public. Rather than call her before the committee, Trey Gowdy continues to try to create headlines by changing the playing field. Hillary has been ready all along and will go before them any time they call. Issuing the invitation is their role, not hers.
As for Mr. Gowdy’s concern about “security of information,” Hillary Clinton, of course, has the common sense while testifying under oath to suggest an alternate way to provide sensitive and classified information to the committee – common sense ostensibly lacking on the Republican side as it was Jason Chaffetz who told the world live on C-SPAN that “the annex” was something other than a State Department facility.
Embedded bolding below is my own.
House Panel Seeks Private Talk With Hillary Clinton About Email
Mr. Gowdy said the committee believed that “a transcribed interview would best protect Secretary Clinton’s privacy, the security of the information queried, and the public’s interest in ensuring this committee has all information needed to accomplish the task set before it.”
But, Mrs. Clinton indicated on Tuesday that she wanted to give her testimony in a public setting. In a written statement, a spokesman for her said she had told the committee months ago that she was prepared to testify at a public hearing. “It is by their choice that hasn’t happened,” said the spokesman, Nick Merill. “To be clear, she remains ready to appear at a hearing open to the American public.”
The committee’s ranking member, Elijah Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, said the panel should hold a public hearing instead of a private interview. “Rather than drag out this political charade into 2016 and selectively leak portions of a closed-door interview, the committee should schedule the public hearing, make her records public, and refocus its efforts on the attacks in Benghazi,” he said.
They can then pull a single line out of the context of hours of torturous repeated questioning and leak that one line to the media. If the B hearing was all done in private we would have only heard their spin – Hillary said “insert lie here” according to sources. They can attack her and gang up on her and lie about her with the intention of getting her to show emotion. Then they can say she is unstable – like those wimmenz get periodically… those dreaded girly parts should not sit in the oval office chair.
We watched them make utter fools of themselves at other hearings. What is the old saying about making sausage or laws?

Gowdy will keep moving the goal posts right up to November, 2016. Can’t say as I blame them for wanting closed door testimony. They know Hillary will have them for lunch. 😉

There are two political cartoons that explain the can of worms conservative
zealots have opened. One is of two water fountains with “straight” on one and “gay” on the other. The other cartoon is the historic, iconic photo of 4 black men sitting at the Woolworth counter and a quip about having settled this issue of refusing service once before.

The whole Republican wish for a closed door hearing doesn’t pass the smell test.
Meanwhile, i came across this at The Guardian:http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/video/2015/apr/01/hillary-clinton-first-female-president-united-states-video
The analogy about Hillary having to dodge the shards while shattering the glass ceiling is looking very true.
