Hillary Clinton Again Among Time’s 100 Most Influential

The 100 Most Influential People

Hillary Clinton

Hillary also penned the issue’s entry on Elizabeth Warren.

Elizabeth Warren

TIME 100 2015 Elizabeth Warren
Susan Walsh—AP

Progressive champion

It was always going to take a special kind of leader to pick up Ted Kennedy’s mantle as senior Senator from Massachusetts—champion of working families and scourge of special interests. Elizabeth Warren never lets us forget that the work of taming Wall Street’s irresponsible risk taking and reforming our financial system is far from finished. And she never hesitates to hold powerful people’s feet to the fire: bankers, lobbyists, senior government officials and, yes, even presidential aspirants.

Elizabeth Warren’s journey from janitor’s daughter to Harvard professor to public watchdog to U.S. Senator has been driven by an unflagging determination to level the playing field for hardworking American families like the one she grew up with in Oklahoma. She fights so hard for others to share in the American Dream because she lived it herself.

Interesting tidbit about Jeb Bush. He made a comment that he drives his own car to Chipolte and then contradicted it by saying he cooks his own Mexican food. But the interesting thing is we had some person here commenting about Hillary driving the other day and it seemed he wanted our opinion on that.

I think your site might have been used in a fishing expedition to see if women care about that. If so they are really clueless. Nobody cares what he drives or eats. Hillary on the other hand has earned her rock star status among her supporters and is top story in the country since Sunday and hint, hint: the van and the food were not the reason.

Here is the comment from the stranger who commented here “Nick Danger”:

I read elsewhere that Hillary will actually be hitting the road, just as the video says, by actually driving out to Iowa from New York! This is a “smooth move” as it sends a message that she is not a private jet-setting elitist, flying over middle America. The topper to this idea would be to let Hillary have a turn at the wheel and do a little of the driving herself (complete with some candid photos showing her at the wheel). If you will recall, that was a charge that Republicans made of her back when she said she doesn’t drive (herself) anymore, as if she had forgotten how!

I searched that name and hillary on google and came up with lots of hits for Republican crap which I am not going to click on or read. It smells fishy to me.

    • Ahhhh well … seems silly to make an issue out of that. Hillary and motor vehicle issues seem to be a recurring theme. After I read her account of that incident in Egypt and close the protestors were, I was thankful for her armored van, the secret service and their special driving skills.

Yep, We know it is the RWNJ skewed idea of what a feminist is. We would freak out that she isn’t driving, you know, doing a thing a man can do. They have this neanderthal view of women and thing feminists are militant and crazy people.
The comments on their sites from their regulars support this insane notion that Hillary isn’t admired by true feminist women because she got to where she is by help from a man… or she doesn’t drive… or whatever obvious BS they can toss. They are so far from reality listening to the fringe of talk radio and their one BS TeeVee station spouting neo-con bomb the world, close the 95,000 miles of borders, crap.

Not only did The Dumber Bush Brother say he drives himself to Chipotle and then say he cooks his own at home, but Then… He got into a black SUV that was waiting for him and his driver took him away.

No substance, all lies, and wrong on all the issues. Hypocritical too.

Hillary is kicking ass in the early polls. Walker might have won Wisconsin 3x but Hillary is way ahead of him before she even starts her campaign there. I can’t wait to see her beat Christie in the Jersey polls.

These two should run their own states and not force their bad ideas on the country.

Jeb is his brother and is not his own man. This is my worst nightmare, Bush policy reanimated from the dead:

Fox news has Jeb and Hillary tied in their fair and balanced poll…. all 500 other polls have her way ahead. Funny that. Here is FOX vs Reality:

Note to Jeb Bush: Hillary is driven by Secret Service for her security. It’s our job to make sure you never become important enough to warrant such protection. I hope you’re driving yourself for many years to come!

He got into a SUV with a driver right after making the comments. He had a chauffer drive him away, right after telling the group that he drives himself to fast food and also saying he cooks it at home.

He is talking out of both sides of his mouth and getting garbled and is easily confused on things like driving and food, you know, those tough things to understand.

      • That’s all very true, Karen. But I don’t doubt that he drives himself at home, at least some of the time. He was campaigning in New Hampshire, and none of them drive on campaign trips. To me, the real story here is the fact that he’s campaigning and raising boatloads of “dark money” which is ILLEGAL since he hasn’t formally announced he’s running. The media just ignore all this. Hillary did not begin campaigning or raising money until after announcing. Yet, the media treat her like a scofflaw. The Bush name is magic in the media–even after all that went on in the last Bush administration.

Ready for Hillary is now ReadyPac. The pacs just have to remove the name of the candidate. The dozen pacs with Hillary in their names can just remove the part with her name and become legit again. She came out for campaign finance all along, (just again stated it a new) but they must accept it until there is a new law passed by both parties and that won’t happen so they will need an amendment, harder yet.

The republicans voted zero on making it public who was contributing to pacs. The dems voted to have all donation names public to see who was funding candiates pacs even if they were unlimited in the amounts they could raise – corporations are people. She might get 2 billion and the sad thing is she will need it. The Koch’s of the world have very deep pockets. They want to privatize the VA hospitals and the Rep candidates are trying to do that for them. A little payback. Follow the money, as always, but now they are hidden and it is harder to follow. Progress, thanks GOP. Sigh.

Bush’s position on the Schiavo case is strongly at odds with his claims to be a small government conservative. His actions in that case were abhorrent to anyone who believes in individual rights and the dignity of the person. His comments that he wouldn’t do anything different and that Ms. Schiavo “starved to death” confirm that he must never occupy the Oval Office.

Bloomberg is reporting that Hillary plans to name Gary Gensler her campaign’s chief financial officer. In his role as head of the Commoditys Futures Trading Commission, he was known as a fierce watchdog and regulator of Wall St. He refused to back down in the face of pressure from the banks and Wall St. .

The link I put up last week with all her proposed staff to date has her Finance head as Dennis Cheng as reported by The NY Times in Feb. Both are good, we will see, I guess.

I think Cheng is the Finance chairman. Gensler would be Chief Financial Officer, or CFO. I know Still would say it’s not confirmed yet. But if she does hire Gensler, she would be saying to all the lefties who question her bona fides as a progressive, “Can you hear me now?” She would also be signaling a potential Treasury Secretary.

Director of Financing, Financing Chair, Chief Financial Officer, VP Finance, or some such title for either is possible. One might be in charge of one specific aspect, fundraising for example and the other in charge of operations cash flow. We will see. Both are very good at what they do. She has such an impressive array of staff. She took to heart to the complaints about her campaign last time.

Seems Gensler will top Cheng. That is a surprise since Cheng has history with her, but it also, if the Vox article is correct, a good move since he is a good oversite watchdog. As long as someone makes sure all the money that comes in is proper. She would not have it any other way.

I just got an email from Cheng. He is the finance director or chief fund raiser and says as much. As you suggest, Gensler supervises all finance aspects to make sure the fundraisers and bundlers are not engaging in the shenanigans that occurred the last time. But he will also oversee spending of assets so she doesn’t run out of money midway as happened under Patti Solis Doyle.
