Hillary dipped down to South Carolina for a town hall earlier today, and then zipped back up to the north country for the Humphrey-Mondale Dinner at the River Centre in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) sponsors this dinner. Bernie Sanders also spoke at this event.

2016 Humphrey-Mondale Dinner
Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) delivered remarks at the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party’s annual Humphrey-Mondale dinner in St. Paul.
Hillary began by remembering Paul Wellstone and thanking Mark Dayton Amy Klobuchar, Al Franken, and other officials. She spoke about the crisis in Flint, MI. Then she talked about Johnson Controls, bailed out with the auto industry, now sold to an Irish corporation to avoid taxes, and condemned inversion in the tax law.
She reminded the audience that Citizens United originally came about as an attack on her. She called for a bold national mission to create jobs, fix the infrastructure, and help young people get education and jobs.
She also addressed issues of concern to African Americans, immigrants, and women. She spoke about schools in poor condition.
She stressed that she is not making promises she can’t keep. She talked about how she got CHIP done as a way of explaining that change is often incremental, takes time, and that legislation often comes in pieces. ACA came much later. She stated that she will build on ACA.
She praised President Obama’s accomplishments and leadership and voiced her intention to build on those accomplishments.
She told the audience to ask themselves, “Who can you count on to break down every barrier? Not just some.” She restated: “I am not a single issue candidate and this is not a single issue country.”
Love it! Thanks for the inspiring pictures! I only wish the polls were better. Nate Silver has Nevada tied which puts the sanders followers in space. Sanders is lying to them and he knows full well he cannot deliver all the free stuff. The Democratic Party better figure out what they plan yo do with a socialist gone wild.

A friend of mine, a Hillary supporter, attended this dinner along with her daughter, also a Hillary supporter, and her daughter’s friend, a Sanders’ supporter. All agreed that Hillary’s speech was “stellar” and her daughter’s friend admitted it was much better than Sanders’. So she will probably convert. That’s what happens when Sanders’ supporters actually listen to what Hillary has to say.
My friend also told me that many of those in the Sanders crowd were quite rude. This was something remarked on by everybody else in attendance and something I’ve heard from others who have attended these kind of joint events. Hillary, of course, didn’t skip a beat. Poise!
