At the Schomburg, with Mayor DeBlasio, Governor Cuomo and Eric Holder onstage, Charlie Rangel introduced Hillary saying, “We will be able to say we were there when it happened.”
Hillary: “It is not enough to break up the big banks.” She enumerated the markers of systemic racism – from mass incarceration to health issues like asthma rates and infant mortality and then unrolled a comprehensive agenda.
Among the items on this agenda: Jobs creation, support for Black entrepreneurs, especially women, equal pay for equal work, raising the minimum wage, providingAccess to home ownership and pre-school. In education: desegregating schools, and making college affordable.
Her job plan will combat recidivism due to long term unemployment when those who have paid their debt are released.
In schools, overreliance on suspensions and expulsions as well as police presence in schools will be addressed to end the school to prison pipeline. Support will be provided for guidance counselors, school psychologists an social workers.
Among her comments:
“I actually tell you what I want to do. I think that’s my job.”
Coded racial language about President Obama comes from Republicans. “As if he’s not the ‘real’ president. He has the right to nominate under the Constitution and the Senate has the duty to vote on the nomination.”
Hillary will appoint justices who see the Constitution as a blueprint for progress.
“We can’t start building relationships a few weeks before a vote.”
“Hold me accountable.”
“None of this is a they problem. It’s a we problem. It’s an American problem.”
“We need to try to walk in one another’s shoes.”

I guess I’m just getting old. The CNN poll in South Carolina shows Hillary with a hefty lead overall because of her support from African Americans. But even there, Sanders has a majority of the white vote. I confess that I’m mystified. How can anyone listen to this speech (or any Hillary policy plan) and not support HER? I cannot fathom it.

What infuriates me is that too many Bernie supporters now buy in to the RW memes about Hillary, which is what the GOP wants them to do.

Anyone who thinks they’ve heard all of Bernie Sanders’ negatives, please Google “Bernie Sanders and Minuteman Militia”. Then prepare to be shocked.

He’d be easy pickings for Karl Rove et al in the GE, no matter who runs on the GOP side. All of the stuff the media has ignored till now in their breathless effort to boost Bernie and attack Hillary will be used by the GOP. The media environment for Bernie would be dramatically different without Hillary. He’s been a major beneficiary of their double standard.

Money corrupts absolutely. Bernie is paying his volunteers 15 dollars and hour. I wonder how much cash he has in the bank. If you were paying attention the negative ads started when the money started rolling in. He raised money off stealing her data.

I also strongly suspect Repubs are funding some of his campaign, not “the people.”

And this is not by mistake; it’s the strategic plan. Karl Rove & his buds are pushing St Bernard, even dumping money into pro-Sanders advertising because they know he’d be cut off at the knees in November. The tell is in a good deal of the language and tactics which have a strong whiff of Republican propaganda. The starry-eyed devotees cannot or will not see it. Until it’s too late. That’s if the plan works the way the Rovian hit-squads hope.
One very good sign, however is the letter that a number of liberal economists released on St Bernard’s program expenses. A big smack down. They’ve indicated that 15 trillion is far too conservative a figure. St Bernard’s programs will come in at 20+ trillion and an expansion of the Federal Government by 50%.
Not going to happen, not even with Tinkerbell dust.
