A flurry of candidates are converging on the upper borough this week, but Hillary Clinton knows where the heart of the Bronx is – Yankee Stadium! And that is where she showed up this morning for a presser and appearance with Borough President Rubén Díaz Jr. (His dad, Rubén Díaz Sr., is an evangelical Pentecostal minister, a New York State Senator, and a Ted Cruz supporter.) They spoke to the press and local residents gathered to see her.
From there, they boarded the 4 train and took a short ride. Imagine the surprise of the riders!
Díaz told reporters that the Bronx knows Hillary and her work and is solidly behind her.
Then the whole crew went to the subway station and hopped on. Nick Merrill and Huma Abedin, who rides the subway all the time, included.
This New Yorker recognized his former Senator and future president in the station and walked up for a warm greeting.
Hillary’s card didn’t work right on the first swipe.
But she got in and on the platform.
It looked like this young woman was on her way to classes and in walked Hillary!
New Yorkers are ready for anything any time. This woman seized the moment. She was ready for a selfie with Hillary.
They exited at 170th St. and walked to a diner where she had an interview.
This dad was overjoyed to introduce Hillary to his little daughter. You can’t see it in the stills, but the baby waved at Hillary.
And on they went to their next destination with Hillary greeting well-wishers.
What a great start to a chilly spring day in the Bronx!
Thank you for the inspiring pictures! Secretary Clinton looks and acts presidential. Cannot wait for sanders to concede and the real campaign begins. I appreciate still4hill as I can no longer believe Nate Silver. It is difficult to poll I do understand that, but nonetheless, I cannot help but worry as there is no telling what a sanders follower will do. As a history teacher this feels like a cult following rather than a campaign. Sanders bothers me on so many levels!

Hillary took the high road in her comments this morning, saying Sanders is better than of the Republicans. She’s doing the smart, right thing to be above it all.
Having said that, the surrogates don’t have to be above it all, and I I would really like to have seen a stronger defense of her. I watched Bill DeBlasio and Claire McCaskill being interviewed and…..eh, I though they were tepid. I’m not saying they should go crazy but I feel like everyone is sooo scared of supposedly “alienating” Bernie supporters, that they can’t call him on his BS. Not once did they counter with the obvious defense: that by Bernie’s list Obama, Biden, Kerry, et al aren’t fit. Is that too mean for surrogates to say?
I just think the double standard is in full effect yet again here. Why should Hillary or (more importantly) her supporters to ALWAYS be the ones to ratchet things down or hold back or tone down their defense?

SoCalHillFan, I didn’t see deBlasio or McCaskill, but i read that he called Bernie’s assertion Hillary isn’t qualified “absurd” and McCaskill brought up the obvious sexism of Bernie’s comments. I love that Hillary took the high road, too. I’ve read anecdotal stuff on Twitter about Sanders supporters upset with him who are now switching to Hillary. Here’s the thing: 75 percent of Bernie supporters in a recent poll said they would support Hillary in the GE, which is a number that’s gradually climbing. Those people presumably don’t despise Hillary like the Bernie or Bust cultists, and those are the ones most likely to be offended by his remarks.

75% is good IMO and I agree, I think that % will go up after the nominees are chosen. Re: DeBlasio and McCaskill, they did say some good things, so I don’t want to seem ungrateful It’s just that when I watched it live, their tone was a bit blasé. Like, “Yeah his comments are incorrect, but let’s move on.” I was fired up and I’m biased anyway so what can I say? Lol 🙂

That’s just the way de Blasio talks. He is always low key.

There”s even a new hashtag on twitter, apparently started by Sanders supporters: # FleetheBern.

Thank you still4hill for beautiful coverage. I come here to see your posts and to read fellow Hillary-supporters’ comments.. and you all bring back some perspective.
So glad Hillary is staying classy. Expected nothing less.

E CEO: Bernie Sanders says we’re ‘destroying the moral fabric’ of America. He’s wrong.https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/ge-ceo-bernie-sanders-says-were-destroying-the-moral-fabric-of-america-hes-wrong/2016/04/06/8499bc8c-fc23-11e5-80e4-c381214de1a3_story.html
… Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt)… has never bothered to stop by our aviation plant in Rutland, Vt. We’ve been investing heavily (some $100 million in recent years), hiring and turning out some of the world’s finest jet-engine components in Vermont since the 1950s. The plant employs more than 1,000 people who are very good at what they do.
…
It’s easy to make hollow campaign promises and take cheap shots in speeches and during editorial board sessions, but U.S. companies have to deliver for their employees, customers and shareholders every day. GE operates in the real world. We’re in the business of building real things and generating real growth for a nation that needs it now more than ever. I’m proud of all that we do, and how it all figures into “the moral fabric” of America is so plain to me. It seems Sen. Sanders is missing the point.

Okay. So now a company which employs more than 1, 000 of his constituents is “destroying the moral fabric of America.” Got it! And he’s never even visited that plant?! Forget president. I don’t think he’s qualified to be a senator.

Exactly! He has been Senator from that tiny state.. GE is one of the global companies and 1000 employees there plus another 300+ elsewhere in the state.. that’s quite big. Besides GE has its research center nearby in NY state. A good senator would visit that VT plant every other year.. and even the research center to explore how best to develop and maintain the interests of his own state. He is not qualified to be a senator.

I hope ore Super Delegates show their appreciation of Hillary despite his rants and the shallowness of his NYDN interview.. and come out in support of Hillary. This would be the correct point in time to do so and make a statement.
