Hillary Clinton Statement on the Resignation of Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz
Following today’s resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz from her role as Chair of the Democratic National Committee, Hillary Clinton issued the following statement:
“I want to thank my longtime friend Debbie Wasserman Schultz for her leadership of the Democratic National Committee over the past five years. I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year’s historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this week’s events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership. There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie–which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect Democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and in other key states. I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid–because as President, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people.”
I was never a big fan DWS fan, frankly. Glad to have Donna Brazile as interim DNC chair.

Well, Hillary snapped DWS right up. She was very loyal in 2008.

Unfortunately, she was widely regarded as having done a poor job as DNC chair. John Podesta wanted her replaced last fall, which could’ve avoided some later problems.
Here’s some good news: Be ready for a great Sanders speech tonight.

I do realize DNC chair is kind of a thankless job, but DWS didn’t do Hillary or the Dem Party any favors with her performance. Even prior to the primaries, I remember complaints about the DNC’s general incompetence were pretty widespread.

I love Donna; she’ll be great.
The leaks are embarrassing. As chair, she needed to go and I hope the staff who participated go too.
They are f***ing things up for Hillary and that is not acceptable.
I’m concerned about reports DWS will STILL address the delegates tmrw afternoon. WTF?? On the days set aside for Bernie and his supporters to give their speeches? Geeeeez. That can ONLY end in disasterous boos. I get that she worked hard and has to save face for her upcoming election…but surely a blind person could see that spectacle will be all over the news. Her Congressional opponent can cut an ad on this. What…Is…She…Thinking? More importantly why is Brooklyn allowing this?
I will say however, that I’m still totally UGH on Bernie and hope DWS wins her election.

The big story here is Russia/Putin blatantly attempting to influence the election, because it’s clear they were the hackers who gave the emails to WikiLeaks, who just conveniently decided to publish them right before the convention. Yeah, like was just a coincidence. And now the media is starting to look at the Trump/Putin connection.
BTW, I’m sure Brooklyn has things worked out, SoCalHillFan. Frankly, they’re glad to be rid of her before the convention.

Agree that the Russian connection is important and the media seems to be dismissing it.
As for DWS, honestly It doesn’t look very worked out, DWS spoke this a.m. at FL delegates breakfast and she was booed heavily (also cheered). It was raucous and looked bad. I can’t imagine Dems wants that on natl. tv again this afternoon but as of now that’s what’s sched’d to happen. I guess we’ll have to wait and see….

Maybe they’re letting the delegates get it out of their system? We’ll see this afternoon.

DWS now will not gavel in the convention. Whew. That’s one embarrassing moment averted! Now let’s see how Bernie and his delegates conduct themselves.🙄

BTW, I have to give credit to the Hillary and Bernie people for being on the same page RE the leaked emails. It’s clear they knew this was coming (the hack happened weeks ago). Bernie didn’t take the bait when the media and Trump tried to shove it in his face this weekend, and even Jeff Weaver is on the unity wagon. 🙂

Yes, I was surprised by Weaver et al., not going ballistic. He actually said he likes Kaine and voted for him (Weaver lives in VA). Also, Ben Jealous finally came out to dendorse one he heard DWS was leaving. They both were trying to downplay it and talk unity. Not sure where Nina Turner stands though, lol!
