Hillary was all over cable news this morning- well her sound bite was. On MSNBC, Morning Joe played it, and then CNN’s New Day picked it up. The Daily Beast also offered a link. What is surprising is that among these reports, no one came up with a still photo of the stalking during that October 10 debate when Trump elected to stand while Hillary spoke and to follow her all over the stage.
In her upcoming memoir, What Happened, Hillary recounts how his behavior creeped her out and the process she went through regarding how to handle it.
“Well, what would you do? Do you stay calm, keep smiling, and carry on as if he weren’t repeatedly invading your space? Or do you turn, look him in the eye and say loudly and clearly: ‘Back up you creep, get away from me. I know you love to intimidate women, but you can’t intimidate me, so back up.’… I kept my cool, aided by a lifetime of dealing with men trying to throw me off.”
Here are a few flashbacks from the archives.
When Trump was talking Hillary remained seated and engaged.
When Hillary was speaking, Trump remained standing.
She talks. He stalks.
Look at his face when she is speaking.
Then there was the creepy lurking in the background.
Her decision to ignore him was exactly in character. In early 2009, newly-inaugurated Barack Obama’s administration pivoted directly to Asia. North Korea’s Kim Jong-un decided to welcome Obama to world affairs by conducting a missile test while Hillary and Obama were in Europe for a series of world summits. The administration recognized the test as a bid for attention and threatened further sanctions. Hillary likened NK to “cranky teenagers” and said experience taught her that the best policy vis-à-vis such behavior is to ignore it.
Well done, Hillary!
Elsewhere, she regrets her loss in these words.
“I couldn’t get the job done. And I’ll have to live with that for the rest of my life.”
She said she let us down. No, you didn’t Hillary! You won! You never let us down.
She was so great in every debate, also between the Democrats.Because of the preparation, the knowledge, the experience. Like a president. I liked also the way she had a presidently style in these debates, a style we will see among more new women who will run for something, I am sure, in 2018 !

“She talks. He stalks.” That sums it up perfectly. All the pundits demanding that Hillary grovel after this election never acknowledge how far outside the norm 2016 was for a presidential election. No other candidate in American history has ever contended with the bizarre happenings Hillary faced daily. Being stalked by her opponent during the traditional town hall debate seems like a minor blip relative to Russian interference, chants of “lock her up”, and the FBI Director weighing in inappropriately–twice! Not to mention her opponent calling for her assassination. But in any other presidential campaign, Trump’s disturbing behavior at the town hall would have dominated the conversation for the remainder of the campaign.

I agree. Hillary did not fail us, the media did in how they covered the election. I just wish she had turned around while he kept stalking her and just said, “can I help you?” It would have cut the tension and people would have laughed and appreciated her putting him in his place.
It was clear she felt she “had” to maintain a total professional demeanor because she had been attacked continuously whenever she tried to defend herself.
I will definitely be buying the book. Can’t wait!

This is a comment that came as an email through my contact page.
For the record – Hillary (that’s with TWO “L”s) is not the one who called him a stalker. I did, and yes he stalked her. She did not enter his “space” as he claimed. The audience was set up in a semi-circle around the stage and she approached the sections where audience members were asking questions. He entered her space much the way Rick Lazio did during her Senate debate with him.
Actually, I had to laugh because it reminded me of a People’s Court episode with Judge Wapner when he asked a young guy what he did for a living and he said he was a night stocker. Wapner’s face went all WTF? “WHAT do you do?” “I stock the shelves at the supermarket at night.”

You would be surpised how many people think that. During the campaign people thought that! When did they think she had time?

Still4Hill,
That comment you received via e-mail sounds like Clinton Derangement Syndrome. The hatred towards her is an extension of the hatred still felt in this country towards women in general. Just like racism and the hatred of people of color just for being “not white”, sexism is the hatred of people who are female for being “not male”. Neither makes any sense but still people justify it to this day.
Example: she gets attacked for pointing out what really happened on tape and he gets a pass for being a sexual predator. Hitler rose to power because the German people refused to see him for who he really was and because he told them what they wanted to hear and it didn’t matter that it was all lies.
Sadly, that’s exactly what is happening with trump and his followers.

Hi ,
First off, your site is a haven for me. I want to thank you for your dedication keeping this site running over the years and the way you tend to a public figure who has been an exemplar of a public servant all her life, Hillary has always been the real deal!
Hearing Hillary describe the second debate was gut wrenching. That she managed to keep her calm in the face of Trump’s disgusting and vile persona amazes me: he was channeling all the hatred he could muster and all the hatred whipped up against this woman by her deranged detractors. It was nasty on a primal level and I felt the nastiness of it as I watched on TV, particularly as a young woman.
It breaks my heart Hillary feels she needs to apologize, what with all the media has finally covered after they failed the electorate last year – a year where they rationalized Trump’s vileness, graded him on a curve, and dragged Hillary through the mud to perpetuate a horse race and to put her down.
I’ll never forget the way she was treated, I’ll never forget what America did to the first Dem female candidate for President, the hurt and anger will remain with me all my life.
