"... ratify the Law of the Sea Convention, which has provided the international framework for exploring these new opportunities in the Arctic. We abide by the international law that undergirds the convention, but we think the United States should be a member, because the convention sets down the rules of the road that protect freedom of navigation, provide maritime security, serve the interests of every nation that relies on sea lanes for commerce and trade, and also sets the framework for exploration for the natural resources that may be present in the Arctic." -HRC, 06-03-12, Tromso Norway

I wish that the opposition to Trump would start stating what is obvious from what we already know and continue to learn–Trump is possibly, even probably, a completely illegitimate president. I know the Constitution provides no remedy for that, but it seems to me that this is the best argument against his Supreme Court pick. It’s not that he is under investigation. It’s what he is being investigated for. We now know it is very likely this garbage human being cheated and stole the presidency by conspiring with an adversarial foreign power. But even Democrats behave as if this is all hunky dory and has no bearing on his legitimacy or his right to exercise presidential powers. We really need to up our game. FAST.

Republicans treated two legitimately elected Democrats as illegitimate. They did not accept Bill Clinton because he won a plurality of the vote rather than a majority. And they undermined Barack Obama’s legitimacy by pushing the idea that he was foreign born. You can imagine how they would treat HRC if she lost the popular vote and only won the EC by conspiring with Russian intelligence. She wouldn’t have a presidency and probably would have been prevented from ever taking office.
