I hope Nancy remembers Hillary’s support, despite Pelosi choosing to support Obama back in 2008 instead of Hillary. I will NEVER understand why Pelosi took the easy way instead of standing up for the more qualified woman. Of all of the women who betrayed Hillary in that 2008 presidential election, I did not expect Pelosi to be one of them.

True. I didn’t expect that either.

Pretty much everything that happened in 2008 was because the Dem party was terrified that African Americans, the base of the modern party, would abandon them in the general election once it was clear Obama had overwhelming support in the Black community. Once I figured this out, I made peace with all the backstabbing, as did Hillary who understood this too. Both Pelosi and Obama have since done everything possible to make it up to her, and both got behind her early in 2016. Today is a great day for Dems and the Once and Future Speaker.

Brassy Rebel,
I respect what you say about the reasons Pelosi backed Obama in 2008, but when Hillary was the nominee in 2016 and was attacked constantly by not only republicans, the media, trump and the pain in the butt Bernie bros (most of them Russian), I did not hear either Pelosi or Obama stand up for her. She was pretty much on her own. I would take to heart what you say if they had not only endorsed her but fought back on her behalf. Hillary couldn’t really defend herself without causing a backlash (how dare she) but someone else standing up for her when all of the attacks were unleashed without any evidence to back them up could have made a huge difference in the public’s perception of her via Comey and the media beating the e-mail horse to death.
Obama has done very little for the democrat party, did not fund raise for them like Hillary did to make certain that the down ticket dems were elected but he still gets far more accolades and adulation from the media than Hillary. He was more concerned about his legacy than standing up to Russia and demanding that they cease and desist from tampering with the election. He could have done so much more but pretty much remained silent. I have to ask why? Pelosi is no shrining violet but she did not open her mouth in defense of Hillary when she was being vilified by trump and the media. Again, why?
All of these women who were elected in Congress and were sworn in today
owe Hillary a great deal for taking the heat and the subsequent fall which lit a fire under women across the nation to finally stand up and say enough. She is the legitimate president and I will never remain silent about her huge role in leading the way for women to not only run, but get elected.

I really don’t disagree with most of your points. Fact is, elected Dems were all lousy at standing up for Hillary. And I have said before that Obama should have alerted voters about the Russian info warfare. But my point about 2008 stands. Once Obama won the Black vote, as long as it was close, he was going to be the nominee. Politics is not always fair. No one understands that better than Hillary. And ABSOLUTELY! All the Democratic women sworn in today owe Hillary a great deal. They should acknowledge that. We all should.

Brassy Rebel,
I went to Denver to videotape the events leading up to the Democratic Convention in 2008. I particularly wanted to speak with the super delegates before the convention because we had heard that the Democratic leadership were going to try to stop any chance of a floor vote taking place because they wanted to ensure that Obama would win the nomination on the first ballot and avoid taking it to the floor. They were concerned because Hillary did win the popular vote against Obama, even if by a slim margin, and they didn’t want her to pull out the nomination with a floor vote. I was fortunate enough to meet a Hillary super delegate who told me on videotape that she and other delegated had been “ordered” by the dem. leadership to vote for Obama and not to vote for Hillary. She was really upset with this directive because, as she told me, she was selected as a delegate from her state to go to Denver and cast her vote for Hillary. She and the rest of the delegates who had come to vote for Hillary were given their marching orders and to do as they were told because the dem leadership wanted to ensure that Obama would get the nomination and not Hillary.
They stole the nomination from her in 2008 and then stole the presidency from her in 2016. Hardly a matter of being unfair. More akin to criminal activity. I was naïve enough to still believe that elections were all about the will of the people until what I witnessed first hand in 2008 and again in 2016 that it is the will of the power elite.
I pray that history doesn’t steal her rightful, well-deserved place in history. It is our responsibility as women (and those enlightened men who voted for her) to continue to speak out and remind those women in power and those who will someday run to remember the formidable woman who came before and changed everything.

Hillary won every Democratic Primary by a Landslide in 2008. It was not close.

John,
I happily stand corrected! Thanks for speaking up and for being one of those enlightened men who had the courage to vote for her. Hopefully, some day all men will recognize that women are not the enemy and only want to sit beside you at the table of life instead of being the waitresses!
