Once again Hillary sees a way forward.
Opinion | Hillary Clinton: Mueller documented a serious crime against all Americans. Here’s how to respond.
Hillary Clinton was the 2016 Democratic nominee for president. Our election was corrupted, our democracy assaulted, our sovereignty and security violated. This is the definitive conclusion of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report. It documents a serious crime against the American people. The debate about how to respond to Russia’s “sweeping and systematic” attack — and how to hold President Trump accountable for obstructing the investigation and possibly breaking the law — has been reduced to a false choice: immediate impeachment or nothing. History suggests there’s a better way to think about the choices ahead. Obviously, this is personal for me, and some may say I’m not the right messenger. But my perspective is not just that of a former candidate and target of the Russian plot. I am also a former senator and secretary of state who served during much of Vladimir Putin’s ascent, sat across the table from him and knows firsthand that he seeks to weaken our country.
I am also someone who, by a strange twist of fate, was a young staff attorney on the House Judiciary Committee’s Watergate impeachment inquiry in 1974, as well as first lady during the impeachment process that began in 1998. And I was a senator for New York after 9/11, when Congress had to respond to an attack on our country. Each of these experiences offers important lessons for how we should proceed today.
Laurence Tribe, considered a legal scholar, praised this op-ed for its clarity and “spot on” analysis. However, he started his sentence with “Whatever you think of Hillary Clinton”, as if she is actually some random nut who stumbled upon a brilliant analysis totally by accident. Actually, Professor Tribe, here’s what I think of HRC: she’s much smarter than you and would be president right now, sparing us this horror show, if not for rampant misogyny like the phrase,”whatever you think of her”.

I think very highly of her. She took all the incoming fire from everyone and everywhere, including the media who thought her emails were a national emergency. The real crime is that she isn’t President and the national emergency is sitting in the White House. They still blame her loss on being an inferior candidate. What a crock of b.s.

Here’s proof of sexism/misogyny being the reason an extraordinary woman, who was the most qualified person to run for the presidency in our lifetime, Hillary Clinton, is the latest media coverage of Joe Biden. They have magically forgotten about the issue of age which was an issue with Hillary is was younger than Joe when she ran; his 1994 crime bill, that helped fuel mass incarceration with financial incentives to keep people behind bars, and his handling of Anita Hill’s sexual harassment allegations against Supreme Court justice nominee Clarence Thomas in 1991. Biden is also known for close ties to the financial industry and voting to authorize the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003 (which Hillary was criticized for). In the weeks before Biden announced his bid for the presidency, at least seven women stepped forward to accuse him of inappropriate touching. It’s like magic when a man runs with a checker legislative history like Joe’s! They would have skewered Hillary or ANY woman for such a legislative history but they give creepy Uncle Joe a pass!
Our country is going down the tubes because a majority of men still cannot let go of their desire to maintain power and entitlement by any means necessary. Their willingness to disparage women for the slightest imperfection, while giving each other a pass for egregious behavior is overwhelming in its arrogance and dangerous for the well-being of our country.
I just don’t understand the hatred shown toward women who dare believe they should expect the same standard given to men when running for office, or moving up in the corporate, medical, legal, science, etc. work ladder. This is the reason women should stand together just like they did on January 21, 2017 after the despot stole the election with the help of a foreign adversary and realized the lengths that the patriarchy will go to in order to keep them down. Women are stronger together and the time is now to finally stand up and support the women who are running. We hold the power to make a sea change in this presidential election because there are more of us than there are men!
It’s time ladies.

Well, I plan to vote for whoever the nominee is because Trump really needs to go. He cannot be in there another 4 years. However, having said that, it is so obvious how the media is treating Biden, Bernie, and the rest so differently than they did Hillary. If people can’t see that she was held to an entirely different higher standard than everyone else, well, then, they are willfully blind. Biden’s video is being touted whereas Hillary’s was panned. (I thought her video was great). You’re right – she was haranged for legislation her husband signed (and which Biden and Bernie voted for when she wasn’t eligible to even vote on it!) She was blamed for her husband’s infideity by a man who is accused of sexual harrassment by 12 different women. Comey practically indicted her (without technically indicting her) when he knew Trump was under investigation for the Russian interference in the election. The Obama administration should have forcefully spoken out at the time, which it failed to do. The list goes on and on. And in spite of it all, she barely lost. That is not the sign of a weak candidate. I notice the women in the race this time are not nearly getting the coverage that the white males are. The press shapes elections and it’s unfortunate that the public really can’t see through that. Too many really believed the crap that was being spouted in the press and social media about Hillary and it had it’s desired effect: that she was just as bad as Trump. So they voted third party or stayed home. Maybe this time will be different but I’m not holding my breath.

Suzie2,
Very astute in your response. I agree. However, I cannot believe that women do not have the power to override the media bias with the white male president mantra that is going on right now. What women forget and the media and white men hope they continue to forget is the fact that we are more than half the population. If we truly want to take a big bite out of the toxic masculinity that helped put trump in the white house, then women must stand together and support the best woman in the race for the top job and vote for her. Neither Elizabeth Warren nor Kamala Harris are better choices that Joe?
The argument to hinder a woman from being taken seriously in taking on trump is to say that this election is about defeating trump and the ONLY way to do that is to nominate a white male. IMO, women have proven they ca win. Hillary by 3,000,000 votes despite everything but the kitchen sink being thrown at her and the large number of women voted into the House in 2018. That’s not a fluke and shouldn’t be summarily dismissed as one.
What is desperately needed in the WH is the leadership of a woman. How did we get into the mess we are in now? Primarily because of the lackluster, shortsighted leadership of white men who cannot see the forest for the trees when it comes to seeing the big picture. Women bring a different perspective that is greatly needed to guide us out of this political quagmire we are in because men have been too short sighted in anticipating the consequences of their actions. To leave this mess to another white male to “fix” is tantamount to what Einstein said “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.” It’s insanity. It’s also insane to assume women can’t beat him but men can. Women always fall for being told they are not capable and should wait this one out. What will be the excuse next time?
So, what we are being told by the male run media is that if a woman is nominated for president in the democratic party that men will vote for trump or stay home? If that’s the case, it just proves my point that this isn’t really about who can beat trump but it’s about what Hillary said after the election was stolen from her – “I should have known that they would NEVER LET me be president…” It’s about men not allowing it. That’s reason enough for me to do everything I can to make sure a woman is nominated.

I would love to see a woman get elected President. I think Warren and Harris are wonderful. Klobuchar and Gillibrand are good, too. Happy to see a number of women running. I do believe a woman will be on the ticket, if the party is smart.

Let’s not forget that the majority of white women voted for Trump. We are not going to get a coalition of almost all women to vote for any Dem nominee. The prediction when I was an undergrad that by mid-21st century whites would be a minority is what drives whites to vote – not for any particular Republican but against a Dem. Their values are not ours. Trump’s supporters like what he is doing, and white women are included in that demographic. And when they don’t want to hear what you have to say, they really don’t want to listen.

The media is working 24/7 to push biden down our throats! If the male run media is so hot for joe to be the nominee, wouldn’t it be a kick in the head if Joe (who is no spring chicken) should have health issues during his first term and the woman VP has to take over? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t wish biden any health problems, but he has had 2 brain aneurysms (almost died from one) back in 2013. Imagine if this had been Hillary!!!! Joe’s much older than Hillary was when she ran and his health should be of concern, but no, it’s Joe not Hillary or any woman, so move on nothing to see here. But if it did happen and the woman VP had to take over, would they attack her and do everything they could to make certain she fails? The way these guys are treating the women so far, I wouldn’t be surprised if they would rather see a female president fail rather than succeed. It’s just how crazy men have gotten since women dared believe they could run for president and do a better job.
I don’t watch the news any longer because it’s about biden most of the time or one of the other guys running. The media thinks we don’t see what’s going on and that really makes me angry. On top of ignoring Joe’s health, they minimize the fact that he lost by huge margins when he ran twice before. They also ignore all of his many gaffs and ham handed way of handling delicate matters that require a nuanced response. He finally called Anita Hill and told her he regretted what happened to her. Didn’t take any responsibility for his totally abandoning her even though he was Chair of the Committee having the hearing. He damn well could have done more to protect her and definitely should have allowed the other women who could have supported Anita’s testimony be allowed to testify themselves. He failed her miserably. Doesn’t matter, it was just a woman (a black one to boot) and he’s a man, so the media gives him a free pass. I will never forgive the media for what they are doing to the women running, AGAIN
I’m so mad, my hair hurts!.

I am so pleased to share with everyone here a new political organization formed by Cecile Richards (former Planned Parenthood Director & Ann Richards daughter); Alicia Garza the Founder of Black Lives Matter and Ai-Jen Poo, Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, which was just launched today. I joined today the minute I heard about it.
They are pushing what I have been hoping for and talking about on this blog and others…women are the “supermajority” in this country and we should be front and center when it comes to an agenda that affects women’s lives in particular instead of being ignored or taken for granted. This organization is going to help bring women (and men) together to help women’s agenda on all levels politically, economically, culturally. The name of the organization is “SuperMajority”. Please check it out. Here is the link: https://supermajority.com/
As Hillary said throughout her campaign – We are “Stronger Together” and by working together for our common goals, women will finally be taken seriously and we will have a seat at the table, instead of being the waitresses.
BTW, the 2020 candidates are being asked to sign a pledge agreeing to support whoever gets the democratic nomination (NO MATTER WHO IT IS) and that tey will endorse them immediately after they win the nomination and be significantly involved in that person’s campaign, among other things, to ensure a victory against trump. Since more women than EVER are running for the presidency and we are hearing that ONLY Joe can win against trump, this will give us the opportunity to vote our heart and not worry that if a woman wins the nomination, that the men, in particular, and conservative women will not be supportive and trump will win. (I still remember the petulant, childish way Sanders acted when Hillary kicked his butt in the primary by 4 million votes and winning all but 2 primaries. Sanders and his supporters gave equal billing to his winning those caucuses in comparison to Hillary’s winning far more primaries) and when he lost, he did not work hard enough to ensure his followers supported Hillary in the general. WE CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN AGAIN.
With the new political organization, coupled with this pledge, women may have the most level playing field they’ve ever had and will significantly raise the chances of a woman winning the general!
