We lost my brother Tony last night. It’s hard to find words, my mind is flooded with memories of him today. When he walked into a room he’d light it up with laughter. He was kind, generous, & a wonderful husband to Megan & father to Zach, Simon, & Fiona. We’ll miss him very much.

So then this happened. Hillary is mourning her brother and Bill Maher goes on Chris Cuomo’s show (I know, I don’t watch it either) and accuses Hillary of obstructing justice (like Trump!) because her staff destroyed phones and hard drives in accordance with State Dept. rules. This is literally a right wing talking point which has been debunked by Snopes. And where and when did Maher obtain his law degree because this wouldn’t meet the definition of obstruction even if this wasn’t the recommended procedure for disposing of devices used by government officials.
Misogynists of all political persuasions are going to continue to smear Hillary for the rest of her life, aren’t they? I get it now.

I know. Hillary didn’t obstruct justice and Maher doesn’t know what he’s talking about. With friends like this, who needs enemies?? She was running with one hand tied behind her back with the media exaggerating the emails and basically nobody in her own party standing up strongly to defend her. Yes, they are going to continue smearing her for the rest of her life no matter what. There is no empathy for her or her family. It’s absolutely disgusting.

Jon Stewart is another white male Libertarian with serious issues. He lectured Congress yesterday on their failure to help 9/11 first responders when it’s actually just Republicans refusing to do so. He said Hillary lacks “the courage of her convictions” and doesn’t know what they are a while back. And Hillary actually helped the first responders! Self righteous, cynical misogynist.

Thanks for clarifying where that remark came from. I won’t even ask why Cuomo was interviewing him. No, I won’t.

I am trying to be forward looking and follow the 2020 campaign with all bazillion candidates. But the top three in current polls are really getting on my last nerve. Joe Biden thinks Republicans are all “very fine people” who have simply been led astray by Trump and that brothers should keep all boys away from their sisters. Bernie Sanders thinks socialism is the only answer and that FDR, a millionaire capitalist who once practiced corporate law, was a socialist. And Elizabeth Warren thinks she’s an “American Indian”. If I wanted this level of delusion, I’d just go ahead and vote for Trump. Hint: I don’t want delusional candidates. Seriously, KILL. ME. NOW.

Brassy,
Your criticism of Warren re her saying she has Indian heritage is rather harsh. I really don’t care about that if that’s the worse anyone can say about her! It still doesn’t compare to Biden and all of his faults, but he continues to get a free pass from the media nonetheless.
You’re right, no one in her party defended Hillary against the frivolous attacks she endured throughout 2015/2016, so, we should learn from that and not let it happen again to the women running this time around. Like Warren or not, she has a long history of standing up for the little guy when it comes to credit card companies, Wall Street, big banks. She does her homework and is fearless. There is not one guy running who can hold a candle to her knowledge of all of the issues that the American people are still so desperate to have resolved.
The work Warren has already done to help the middle class deserves our respect and support. No, she is not perfect but who is? I believe her when she says she will fight for the middle class and those with no power because she has already done it. I don’t believe any of the guys will stand up for women’s issues (equal pay, healthcare/pro choice) when they face opposition and I’m tired of listening to their talking the talk, but not walking the walk AGAIN. That behavior is what deserves our criticism – certainly not a free pass.
I know that the top women running, Warren and Harris, are going to be attacked just like Hillary was and still is. It’s time for women to stand together and fight for those who dare to be in the arena. I can’t accept another white guy in the WH because they have proven time and time again that they are the cause of the problems we are still facing today.

Unfortunately, she did more than incorrectly claim Native heritage. She self identified as “American Indian” on official forms numerous times. She’s smart enough to know how wrong that is so this is disqualifying for me. I have other issues with her, including her apparent belief that she is better than Hillary, but improperly claiming minority status is one flaw that I can’t get past. I’m not looking for perfection, just someone I can be proud of as I was of Hillary. I will proudly support all the other women besides Warren and Gabbard.

Brassy,
I hear ya. You are indeed entitled to support whomever you want. That’s what it means to be an American!
However, I simply cannot hold it against Warren for claiming American Indian heritage of which she said she was proud. Elizabeth’s mother was part Cherokee and Delaware Indian but her father’s white family members would reject her if they knew, which is why they eloped. I often wondered why Obama ran as a black man when he was half white. Obviously, he was more proud of his black heritage from his father’s side than being white from his mother’s side. No one gave him a hard time for ignoring his white heritage and I believe it was politically motivated for him to run as if he were 100% black. It deterred a lot of attacks from his white opponents in order to avoid being called “racist”.
Also, I never thought Elizabeth acted like she was better than Hillary. She supported Hillary’s run in 2016 with great enthusiasm and appeared with her many times, unlike sanders who was a grouchy old white guy showing his bitterness at every turn for losing to her by 4 million votes. Being white male, he got a pass for his childish behavior.
Harris is being attacked for not being progressive enough while she was Attorney General. I have no doubt that both Harris and Warren, who have formidable records, respectively, are going to be attacked because they are a threat to the patriarchy, just like Hillary.
I look forward to the debates to see how Warren and Harris perform. I like both of them and will be looking for the one who consistently shows the kind of gravitas and grit necessary to take on trump whenever he blurts over the top rude interruptions because he heard something that he doesn’t like during a debate or attacking them with his tweets (which Warren has already done very effectively in responding to them). Hillary was too nice because she knew the media would jump all over her if she stood her ground against trump’s bullying. She even admitted as much. I look forward to a woman taking trump down and kicking his fat ass.

I just watched the documentary about Prop 8 and there was Kamala marrying the lesbian couple. How progressive do they want her? I like her, Liz and Amy. I would be fine with any of them, I also like Cory, he is my senator, and Julian, but I think it is time for a kickass woman. Some folks are trying to hook me up with a draft Hillary movement but I just can’t. To quote Brassy above, “Misogynists of all political persuasions are going to continue to smear Hillary for the rest of her life, aren’t they? I get it now.”

I agree with you, still4hill. I don’t want to see Hillary run again. She deserves better. I like Elizabeth Warren and Julian Castro among others. I’d vote for any of them.

Let me be clear. If Hillary declared tomorrow, of course I would support her. I am against drafting on principle. I am against volunteering other people. There are strong women – several – in the running. I do not see Hillary racing in to challenge them so I see no reason to inject still more division where we already have plenty.

And anyone who continues to pretend that next year’s election will be free and fair–candidates included– after what Trump did last night in that Stephanopoulos interview is more delusional than Trump. I don’t think impeachment proceedings will stop him, but inaction at this point makes us all complicit. Dems must pull the trigger.

Still4Hill,
I agree that Hillary should not put herself through the gauntlet of misogyny again! SHe’s done more than her fair share in fighting the patriarchy’s insecurity and hatred of women.
Isn’t it a sad commentary on our society that after all which has been discovered about the criminality and corruption which trump brought to the WH, we STILL have to deal with attacks against an extraordinary woman like Hillary, who has done nothing but serve the public since she graduated college, particularly for children and women. We all know that men have failed miserably in responding to half the population and Hillary filled that void for decades by her good works and willingness to fight the good fight against overwhelming odds.
It is precisely because men in power have failed us for so long that I will do everything I can to put a woman in the WH. Have you noticed that the women in the freshman class, AOC, Katie Porter, and many others have shown what leadership is all about by the way they prepare and do their homework before questioning CEO’s, politicians, administration officials. Don’t you just love Katie Porter!? I have not seen any of the freshman men hold a candle to these women. Interestingly, stats have proven that women take their constituents into account more than men do. Isn’t that what representing the people is supposed to be about? This is what has been missing all along.
Hillary jumped in the arena with all men who hated her for daring to believe she could do the job better; she took the heat and faced the mobs in the media and the internet attacking her relentlessly all by herself. Because she did, she opened the door so that these other women could rise to the top. We owe her more than we can ever repay.

I agree, Yes, I have had my eye on Katie Porter. She is a force to be reckoned with.

Pundits are mocking Trump for continuing to attack Hillary 952 days after the 2016 election. It’s not just a symptom of how he knows she beat him. He and Wm. Barr are going to attempt to charge and arrest her b4 the 2020 election. People need to be talking about this to preempt them.
