If you are wondering where Hillary is, she is in Ireland today.

Hillary Clinton
Hillary Clinton will visit Barretstown in Ballymore Eustace this afternoon, it has been confirmed.
The former US Senator, Secretary of State, First Lady and Democratic presidential candidate will be at the camp for a private event.
Barretstown is a not for profit camp for children with cancer and other serious illnesses, and was founded in 1994 by Hollywood actor Paul Newman.
Last night was a good night to be in Ireland (actually, any day or night is!). Chris Matthews was very impressed by Bill De Blasio’s obnoxious guy at the end of the bar schtick at last night’s debate because nothing impresses Matthews so much as guys just like him!
And can people just stop saying, Wow! Julian Castro is so great I think I’ll support him to be my favorite candidate’s running mate! Great candidate’s are chosen for the top of the ticket, not the under card. Can we please leave the racist takes to Trump and the GOP? Julian Castro is running for president, not vice president. We need to respect that and stop tokenizing him. Especially since he is probably the best overall candidate.

LOL! Obnoxious guy at the end of the bar! And last night Marianne was witchy woman at the end of the bar. She stole Hillary’s love trumps hate.

Brassy,
I like Castro too, but I think he needs more experience and command of all of the issues before we put him in the WH. I noticed a lot of grandstanding by the male candidates last night and the usual interruptions and efforts to monopolize the debate. None of the women behaved this way nor were they allowed to by the moderators. Why did the moderators allow Castro and Booker go on for so long on the immigration issue?
Elizabeth Warren and Amy Klobuchar have the most hands on experience and command of the issues than any of the men on that stage and I believe that is an absolutely necessary qualification for the next president. Since Bill Clinton, we’ve had non-substantive, ill-prepare white men in the WH, plus 1 African American/White male, so, it’s way past time for a real change, especially to clean up the mess left by Trump. Does anyone really believe any of these men will be willing to do the work necessary to clean that mess up? It will just be more of the same old, same old if a man is elected. Past history has proved this to be fact and not opinion.
Of course, I will support any democrat who is the nominee, but I will work my heart out to make sure that nominee is either Warren or Klobuchar because they are better prepared and will bring a whole new perspective to the Oval Office which has been missing for the last 243 years!

I really think we need a person of color, either male or female, at the top of the ticket to juice turn out. Just sayin’. Why not Kamala? And Julian has policy chops to match anyone plus executive experience at the federal level which none of the others have. That said, my big concern now is I agree with Rico on Twitter. All of the candidates are chasing each other left. We have already reached the “zero minutes abs” stage of the campaign with over a year to go, and there’s no HRC to call bs. We risk ending up with a candidate who is too “hot” for the general election. Promising a bunch of free stuff threatens to be the party’s road to ruin.

And immigration DRIVES turn out on both sides. It may be the number 1 issue next year. Again, just sayin’!

And all candidates who support single payer health care should start calling it that. It’s borderline LYING to call single payer “Medicare for All”. Medicare relies substantially on private insurance. Medicare recipient with a Blue Cross supplement here. ✋

Brassy,
I believe Warren has some great ideas, how to achieve them and who is going to pay for them. I think we’ve settled long enough for those people who are fearful of a vision that the media and the republicans say is “too progressive”. Warren says we are in the fight of our life and I agree. The time to be bold and willing to fight for what we believe in is NOW. The ONLY THING WE HAVE TO FEAR IS FEAR ITSELF. Warren has confidence that we can achieve these higher aspirations and goals if we organize at the grassroots level and are willing to fight for this change. We all know that it won’t be given to us. Nothing of real value ever has!
Riverdaughter has a new post up entitled “No Offense, Jay, but” re Amy’s perfect response to Jay Inslee’s crowing about his work in women’s reproductive rights. Following states, in part, what Riverdaughter said which gets to the heart of what Amy’s response was all about:
“Women are going to make you accountable. You had your fun in 2008 and 2016 when you didn’t consider the threat to women serious enough to curb your casual knee jerk sexist attacks on the only female presidential candidate we have ever had. Oh sure, she was a shoe in. What harm was there in tearing her down a little? It kept the race entertaining, didn’t it? Wasn’t that photofinish exciting?
“Except it all went tits up for two major reasons: 1.) The interference of a foreign power for the other candidate and 2.) the inability of any good statistician to create a predictable model based on polls because a female nominee had never been tried before.
“You’d think the news media would have conducted a thought experiment based on what they were doing and how it might affect the outcome. It didn’t.”
If we are smart enough to nominate a person who has been fighting for the little guy her entire career, knows the issues inside and out and is willing to stand up and fight for them and put our total support behind her, Warren can indeed win against trump. She has already gone toe to toe with him on the tweets and has mastered the issues so much so that I am certain she will be fearless when confronting him in the debates and not let him get the upper hand.
I want to vote for someone “I” believe in and not for the candidate the media decides can win against trump because I think they are wrong about women not being able to win. If Kamala is nominated, I will work my heart out for her. I cannot support any of the men running in the primary because none of them can hold a candle to Warren, Klobuchar or Harris.

Wynne, you are ride or die for Elizabeth. I have received your message loud and clear! LOL! I see things a bit differently, but that’s what makes politics so interesting to me: two people can look at the same evidence or set of facts and come to startingly different conclusions. It is great to be bold. It’s even better to win elections! And I have no intention of supporting the candidate the media thinks can defeat Trump because that is Biden who is a hard NO from me.

Brassy,
I believe I said I would support Kamala if she were nominated and I would also support Klobuchar. too I’m not ride or die for Warren, I just remain loyal to the candidate of choice during the primary. So far, she has proven herself to be the most prepared and willing to fight for what she believes in despite everyone telling her “it won’t work”. It will take that kind of tenacity to push back on the bully trump. Platitudes and trying to out bravado trump is just not going to cut it, which I think the men are more tempted to do than the women. You know, the proverbial “pissing contest” that sets them apart!
The reason women lose in the big races is because other women believe the claptrap fed to them from the media such as only a white male can beat trump. I refuse to give them that kind of power over me. I’m glad to see that you aren’t buying their crap either about biden. You know, it wasn’t so long ago that that same media was pushing hard for Bernie saying he was the best person to beat trump. Now, it appears that Bernie has lost much of his luster with the public and the media and Elizabeth is picking it up simply because she is better prepared than he is. That’s usually what happens when you aren’t the real deal and Bernie is not.
