When this country was founded, voting was a right for some and a pipe dream for others. While generations of courageous advocates and leaders have helped extend that right to more and more people, the “one voice, one vote” system is still up against the mass gerrymandering that has happened under Republican-controlled state legislatures and governorships since the 2010 elections.Our friends at the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, an Onward Together grantee, have a plan to combat map manipulation by targeting 16 state legislative chambers and three gubernatorial races in 2019-2020 cycle. Republicans in states across the country have manipulated the system in order to choose their voters, rather than letting voters choose their representatives. We’ve seen the effects of gerrymandering at every level, including more than one presidential election in recent history. Ending “map manipulation” at the national and state level is crucial to the future of our democracy.

The Queen of England is supposed to be just a figurehead. Now it looks like all the politicians are relying on her to fix the massive mess they have created. I guess this shows things could be worse here. We could have a monarch! Trump would volunteer!

This comment of mine did not age well and I would like to retract it. Unlike our Republican party, Great Britain’s Conservative party is proving to have many members who put principle above their party and are standing up to the clown who currently leads it. I am truly happy to see that they are trying to avoid the fate of the USA. I wish them luck and, hopefully, a free and fair election. The world must stand together against fascism.

In his defense, I read that he just adopted a rescue puppy. I guess it’s not just in DC that if you want a friend you should adopt a dog, but it was nice of him and I wish him and the puppy a long, happy life together.
