@U.S. Senate: Time to ratify LOST!
"... ratify the Law of the Sea Convention, which has provided the international framework for exploring these new opportunities in the Arctic. We abide by the international law that undergirds the convention, but we think the United States should be a member, because the convention sets down the rules of the road that protect freedom of navigation, provide maritime security, serve the interests of every nation that relies on sea lanes for commerce and trade, and also sets the framework for exploration for the natural resources that may be present in the Arctic." -HRC, 06-03-12, Tromso Norway

Speaking of running for president…are we about to go through “deja vu all over again” with Mike Bloomberg? Another rich white male is considering running for president and the media is repeating their love fest for him, just like they did for trump, while attacking Hillary every step of the way!
I would love for her to be “re-elected” president, but the media would crucify her for daring to do what any guy would be given a free pass to do if they had an election stolen from them like they did with Hillary. I just don’t want to witness their misogyny getting any worse than it already has with the women running now. Here’s why…
Unfortunately, the media hasn’t learned a thing from their love fest with trump, nor did they ever intend to. Here’s another example of a powerful, white man with a ton of money and they are already touting that since he was “really” a great businessman (implying that trump wasn’t, really?), he would do a great job as president. They even are saying that he’s honest, trustworthy and cares about the people!!! I assume the media is not going to vet him either.
Bloomberg doesn’t even have to make one speech or offer one plan and they are already fluffing his pillows. Talk about white male privilege squared. This country does not need another privileged, white businessman to be in charge of the country. Nonetheless, the white men running the MSM are so determined to ensure the patriarchy maintains its stranglehold on the last male bastion of power that they will say ANYTHING to put another white man in the WH without any evidence that he is the best person for the job or any acknowledgement from the people that they would even want him as their president. I guess they are still counting on that large section of the American electorate, both the liberal and conservative, who refuse to think for themselves and will believe anything the media tells them,.
I am certain the media will continue to ignore, attack and/or undermine all of the women in the race, while finding any excuse to lift up the men, just like they did when Hillary ran. Bloomberg is a prime example of that intent.
Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Apparently Bloomberg and his media fans think this primary doesn’t have enough elderly white dudes, doesn’t have enough billionaires, and doesn’t have enough mayors who alienated most of their African American constituents. My question is what vacuum is Bloomberg supposed to be filling?

Brassy,
What we are witnessing with the media’s adulation of Bloomberg’s possible run is the patriarchy’s “fear” that a woman just might win this time around. They are grasping for anyone they believe can convince the American people is the best person to beat trump, but more importantly, keep a woman from becoming the most powerful person in the world! First, the media thought it would be Biden, but he hasn’t looked too promising lately and they are beginning to have doubts about ‘ol Joe. Mayor Pete may be smart and articulate, but I can’t believe that at 38 he has the requisite experience, much less a record, to be a good president, no matter how genuine his “good intentions”. The road to hell has been paved by many a male’s good intentions! Also, does anyone think that his lack of experience and a record, plus his sexual orientation won’t be a problem in the general election? Here’s a test – Would a Mayor Patricia with the very same credentials, education, age and sexual orientation be treated the same by the media as Mayor Pete has been so far and be one of the top tier candidates?
I doubt that the media will be willing to vet Bloomberg, but will give him the same free pass as they gave trump. Women should pay close attention to whom Bloomberg really is regarding his opinion of women and take to heart what has been reported about his misogynistic behavior. There are a series of stories about him, accumulated over decades, that suggests in the aggregate a distinct pattern when it comes to his treatment of women: reports of disparaging comments made about women’s bodies and appearances. Allegations of a deeply sexist work environment at the company that Bloomberg founded and, for many years, ran. Will the media and Americans dismiss these allegations as the predicable collateral of the thing Americans are conditioned, still, to value above all: the successful accumulation of power and wealth by privileged white men?
I pray that women won’t be fooled again this time around and won’t give in to the patriarchy’s over reaching efforts to ensure that a male is nominated OUT OF FEAR. Bloomberg is just a “kinder, gentler” version of trump, but, like trump, he is no friend to women. All the more reason why we need a woman to be the nominee and then woman, like men have always done, must come together like they did after trump’s “largest ever” inauguration and support that woman as if our lives depended on it, because they really do.
