She continues to amaze with her grace, dignity, and class which were all on full display today as she endorsed Joe Biden (who was also very gracious). And, on a very superficial note, I wish my hair looked that good. I look like a cross between Elvis and the Fonz. When everything finally opens up, what am I going to do? That’s easy. Head straight to Great Clips!

That event today probably reminded Chuck Todd that she was “overprepared”. We could use overpreperation these days. Actually, we could have used it in January.

Brassy,
I hear ya!
Every time I see Hillary or Elizabeth or Kamala or Stacy speak, I am totally at a loss as to why our country still underestimates women as leaders, as compared to the men. The media failed us immeasurably when they allowed their misogyny in how they covered Hillary as opposed to trump that denied us of our rightful president. They made the way for the incompetent, corrupt narcissist who is destroying our country and I will not let them off the hook for giving us trump. Hillary is our legitimate president and I’m glad Joe pointed that out. Unfortunately, recognizing that Hillary should be president comes after the fact; why not after the election?
Women make up 76% of our health care givers who are on the front lines risking their lives to save us from this dreaded disease (made worse by trump and his predominately male administration). These women are leading us through this pandemic and are proving yet again why we need more women in leadership roles in our society AND that they should be leading our country. Here’s an excellent article reminding us that women make excellent leaders and are desperately needed NOW: https://www.fastcompany.com/90486446/women-are-leading-us-through-the-pandemic-they-should-be-leading-our-country-next

Still4Hill,
Off topic, but not really considering Hillary just endorsed biden. I was wondering how you feel about his being accused of a sexual assault on someone from his staff. If you watched Mika Brezenski interview him today, it was clear he was not prepared to respond in any rational way about the accusation, particularly when she asked why not release all of his records that include the woman’s name, even those being held at the University of Delaware for complete transparency and supporting his complete denial that it ever happened. He was stunned to silence by her question, which was certainly surprising, considering he should have been prepared for these kinds of questions. I wonder, as I always have, if he is the “safe” candidate ready to take on trump the media was all aflutter about throughout the primary, despite his lackluster performances in the debates, as well in the primaries until he reached South Carolina (who were voting for his being Obama’s VP rather than for being the best candidate).
It’s hard not to reach the genius-brain conclusion that if Democrats seriously wanted to play it safe, they would have nominated a woman. The chances of a #MeToo scandal happening with a female candidate, while not zero, are close enough that the number can safely be rounded down to zero.
It’s also not fair that Elizabeth Warren lost, even though there are plenty of reasons to argue that she was the best candidate. Nonetheless, Warren supporters were told that they had to suck up the unfairness because it was too risky to run a woman against Donald Trump.
Risk is a funny thing that way. Everyone was so busy worrying about the risk that voters were too sexist to elect a woman that they refused to consider the other side of the coin: Male candidates come with their own gender-specific set of risks. That’s the problem with making risk-avoidance your sole criterion for choosing a candidate. It’s impossible to account for all the possible risks out there, or to predict how your supposed caution may come back around and bite you in the ass. Sometimes the candidate you pick as the safe choice turns out not to have been safe at all.

I’m certainly not happy with the way this primary played out, and the outcome is less than ideal for many reasons. But I don’t think risk avoidance alone is the reason we are here. After 2016, African American voters came to believe that only a white male could capture enough of the white vote to win the Electoral College. And, after 2016, I can’t refute that argument. That’s why at the end it was Bernie versus Biden which, for most of us, was a fairly easy choice. Yes, it’s all terrible, but white voters gave us Trump, and they dominate in key swing states in the EC. Black voters are extremely pragmatic because, as we see in this pandemic, their lives depend on it.

And if the people who voted for Trump but are scared now were unbothered by two dozen assault and harassment allegations against him, I see no reason they would hesitate over one questionable allegation against Biden. Those who said the 2016 election was a choice between the lesser of two evils are learning what such a choice actually means. The lesser of two rapists perhaps.

The way this is shaking out after a few weeks, two words: Katie Hill. I think we are seeing some reasons why TR is making these allegations. I trust Joe.
