Jake Tapper actually said, “Our long, national nightmare is over.” It was a nightmare in large part brought to us by his and CNN’s 2016 coverage. Man, the revisionist history is breathtaking. I had to turn off CNN a little while ago when Van Jones began choking up. He not only hates Hillary; he has said nice things about Trump and worked with Kushner. I hope he gets dragged by Twitter all day.

For those concerned that Trump won’t concede–IT DOES NOT MATTER. As MVP Kamala explains, “Dude gotta go!”

Brassy,
I totally agree with you about Van Jones’ little drama this a.m. on CNN regarding the Biden/Harris win! Didn’t fool me with his blatant hypocricy. He plays both sides. I’ve never known what he stands for. Probably nothing, except himself.

Trump refusing to concede unless the winner first makes concessions to HIM is very Bernie 2.0.

How is this still happening? This morning Jake Tapper interviewed Bernie Sanders about Donald Trump refusing to concede or acknowledge that Joe Biden won fair and square. Really? The guy who refused to concede for WEEKS after losing the Democratic primary by millions of votes in 2016 gets to pontificate on how sore losers are bad for democracy. And Tapper never mentions that Bernie perfected the “I didn’t lose, it was rigged against me” play in the first place. The two most pampered and protected politicians in the country. Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

Hey Brassy,
I saw that interview with sanders too and was appalled but not surprised that tapper didn’t bring up bernie’s atrocious, trump-like behavior after he lost by 4 million votes in that 2016 primary. It’s usually the women journalists and pundits who are willing to confront these men, rarely the men. Why is that?
I never liked sanders, even before he showed what an entitled white man he believes himself to be as expressed by his actions during and after that primary. The media let sanders and trump get away with literally everything, while attacking Hillary with vitriol daily. I just about lose it and have to walk away when one of the pundits shifts blame from their epic failure to the American people by not vetting either sanders or trump onto Hillary for being a bad and unpopular candidate (who won by almost 3 million votes despite their attacks)! To win by such a margin is NOT the definition of an unpopular candidate. They are willfully blind in order to blame the woman as the one who failed instead of themselves. Misogyny in the press gave us trump and our country has been going through hell because of it and they know it.

Only misogyny explains Democrats’ willingness to associate themselves with Toxic Bernie while erasing Hillary. This morning it was Jon Ossoff on State of the Union singing Bernie’s praises and saying he’s happy to have his support. In Georgia. Republican ads up in 3,2,1… Funny how they can always find ways to disassociate from Hillary but can’t figure out how to do it with Bernie. 🤔

BR,
It’s a knee jerk response to welcome a white man’s support, even though Sanders has done little to nothing of substance since he started living off the government teat the last 40 years! Hillary did more in her 6 years in the Senate passing good legislation than he did in 40, but men always seek other men’s support, even an “enlightened” one like Ossof. What makes it worse is Sanders is every bit a misogynist as trump is. Misogyny erases reason and good sense from insecure men who are afraid of women seeking power, which is why the world is presently on the brink of self-destruction. Too many pissing contests and not enough thought and consensus in governing.
What saddened and shocked me the most about this election was that more white women voted for trump this time around than in 2016. A version of the “Stepford Wife” syndrome has taken over white women for them to be able to support a man like trump. I am so ashamed of their behavior and don’t understand at all how they could support him while calling Hillary crooked. We’re through the looking glass folks.

Speaking of misogyny, Trump and the entire GOP don’t have time to condemn the people making death threats against election officials all over the country because they are much too busy attacking NeeraTanden. To a misogynist, whether on the left or the right, a strong woman with strong opinions getting anywhere near power is a far bigger threat than some militia lover threatening to hang, draw and quarter, and shoot public servants doing their jobs.

I cannot even begin to process the level of hypocrisy from these Republicans demanding that the Biden administration follow a whole bunch of new rules (which they just invented) after they spent four long years simply ignoring Trump’s brazen, daily flouting of long established rules and norms. When I try, my head explodes.

I wish people I respect (Tom Watson) would stop retweeting Bernie Sanders calling out Trump for his attacks on democracy. Bernie is the arsonist who started the fire. He is no hero even when he pisses off Glen Greenwald. That’s a ridiculously low bar.

BR,
If Sanders were a woman, do you think for one minute “she” would have gotten the same free ride Bernie has gotten for the last 40+ years in Congress by the media? The media sure as hell would not give “her” the same respect they readily give bernie, despite his lackluster political career in not having accomplished anything of substance in all that time. Like Hillary said, “nobody likes bernie…” But mediocrity is acceptable as long as it’s coming from a man. This mentality stems back to the patriarchy’s continued efforts to hold on to power by any means necessary. How else can the media prop up a man like trump over an accomplished woman like Hillary and keep a straight face?
Our beloved Justice Ginsburg once said (which struck a chord in me as the only daughter in my family and the profound difference in how my father treated me as compared to my brothers) — “I pray that I may be all that (my mother) would have been had she lived in an age when women could aspire and achieve and daughters are cherished as much as sons.”

If Sanders were a woman, abandoning her child and stealing electricity from her neighbor while refusing to support herself would have made her too toxic for politics so there never would have been 40 years in Congress. At least we would have been spared the extensive damage Bernie has done to America.

While denying people the right to vote and women the right to control their own bodies, the Republicans have lately been inventing new rights for themselves and talking about them as if they are enshrined in the Constitution. We now have them asserting the right to infect others with a deadly disease by not wearing masks which are an affront to THEIR personal freedom. Since the election, they have been claiming the right to overturn a free and fair election when they don’t like the results. Even the Republicans who have not been active participants in Trump’s attempted fascist coup assert that he has a “right” to do this. No. He does not.

The republicans all support trump’s right to file these ludicrous lawsuits which have absolutely no merit whatsoever, while at the same time, moscow mitch stalls the stimulus package from millions of needy Americans because his priority is to put profits over human life by protecting corporations from negligence if their workers contract COVID-19 on the job by preventing employees from filing legitimate lawsuits as a protective measure from such actions.
What I cannot understand is why the hell did the people of Kentucky send his sorry ass back to the Senate?!

Same reason they’ve been voting for Republicans at the federal level for decades–racism. It’s pretty clear now it’s not economic anxiety. I’ve known folks like this and used to think they were outliers, but Trump and his minions have revealed the ugly truth. They’re the base.
