Despite the MAGAnetic promise of a major presidential announcement hanging over the nation, women and supportive men hit the streets in fair and foul weather for the third year in a row in major cities and small towns across the U.S. and in Canada, too!

In the excitement of the historic 116th Congress being sworn in, this story from last week slipped under the radar. Aspiring Democratic candidates for 2020 are quietly meeting with Hillary Clinton.

Hillary Clinton, the former U.S. Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, is meeting with prospective Democratic candidates for the 2020 race, with top-tier contenders seeking her endorsement, according to multiple reports.

Clinton has met with Senators Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren, as well as with Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Axios and CNN reported. CNN also reported Senator Kamala Harris has met with the former first lady. There are plans for meetings with others.

The quiet race to win Hillary Clinton’s endorsement

Several possible 2020 candidates have sought advice from Hillary Clinton, and she has meetings scheduled with additional hopefuls.

Between the lines: Clinton has discussed the next presidential race with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Cory Booker, Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti, according to a longtime Clinton confidant.

I’m told this has been going on for months and will continue, since Clinton will talk to any Democrat who wants to talk. (Plus, she sees people incidentally all the time.)

  • “A bunch have picked her brain,” a longtime Clinton confidant said.

“Hillary wants Trump gone,” the confidant said. “She doesn’t know who’s best able to beat him, but she knows about grueling nomination fights.”

  • The potential candidates “know tens of millions of Democrats love Hillary and want her to try again.”
  • “The savvy ones know she’s the most valuable endorser in the party not named Obama.”

Nick Merrill, Clinton’s spokesman, told me: “I won’t comment on private discussions she’s had except to say that she’s more than happy to talk to anyone considering a run about the challenges (as well as the great things) that go with it, and lessons learned on what to watch for in this next cycle (aside from Vladimir).”

You can take this whatever way you want. It is rich with potential motivations and implications. Candidates may be seeking an endorsement, advice, or both.

Here’s what I think. The candidates touching base with her are doing so out of an abundance of respect for Hillary and to assure, before they make a move, that she will not run. They would not want to step on her toes.

I also think that this new role puts Hillary beyond any primary endorsements. I think those going to her know this.

Hillary is emerging as the sensei of the 2020 Democratic candidates. As she said multiple times last year, she is not and will not be running.  I suppose that will not discourage a Hillary or Bust movement that could include draft Hillary, convince Hillary, and write-in Hillary campaigns, but be advised: anything of that nature will likely be related to foreign/Russian interference and intended to divide the Democratic Party and the vote. The best advice, always, is to follow Hillary’s lead. Right now she is quietly meeting with potential Democratic candidates, one of whom may become a presumptive nominee in about 18 months. At that point, she will endorse and very probably campaign her heart out. That is the Hillary we know.

(Page note: It took six days into 2019 for 2020 Primaries and the 2020 Election to have tags and categories here. Pretty much what I had predicted.)

Our partner organizations are the heart of Onward Together. When we ask you to make a donation, it’s to support the work that these and other groups are doing to protect our democracy. In the 2018 cycle, we were able to give more than $2.5 million in funding and grants to organizations fighting to make our country a better place. We also helped to raise more than $12 million for progressive groups, candidates, and committees in 2018 — that’s no small feat.

As we finalize our plans for what Onward Together will take on in 2019 and beyond, we asked our partner organizations to share what they were able to accomplish in 2018 with Onward Together’s support. I was blown away by what they told me, and I thought you would be too.

In order to support these amazing partners and continue the search for groups working on solving the problems that we face, Onward Together is setting a goal: to raise $60,000 by the end of the year. Will you make a contribution toward this goal and renew your membership in Onward Together for 2019?

I’m asking you today to make sure that we don’t slow down in 2019 — the fight for a fairer, more compassionate country isn’t over. Read the report back from our partners, and then make a contribution.

  • Nine Indivisible-endorsed candidates won — including Antonio Delgado in NY-19, Tom Malinowski in NJ-07, and Harley Rouda in CA-48, all of whom helped flip the House. Overall, the margin in their endorsed races swung 8 points to the left. Among races rated “Solid R”, that swing was 15 points.
  • Over the 2017-2018 Cycle, Collective PAC helped elect over 54 African Americans to local, state and federal offices, trained over 300 operatives and staff through the Black Campaign School, and engaged over 1.5 million black voters.
  • Three candidates that iVote supported for Secretary of State won — all pickups, all young women, all Democrats. And they were able to raise and invest $7 million in Secretary of State races — their most ever.
  • Color Of Change PAC’s #VotingWhileBlack program reached more than 5 million voters, and now African-Americans have a new cohort of officeholders at both the local and state level.
  • Voto Latino registered thousands of voters through online digital ads and targeting, peer-to-peer outreach through our local chapters, and national partner engagement. In states like Texas, where Voto Latino has invested and had a program since 2010 and in the 2018 primaries, the state surpassed its total early votes cast in 2014 by 149%.
  • Arena supported 54 candidates in the 2018 election cycle, and all but two won their primary and proceeded to the general election. On November 6th, 27 of their 52 candidates on the ballot won their election. Their 2018 New York candidates went 7 for 9 — ensuring Democrats defeated the IDC, took back the N.Y. State Senate, and won a majority in the U.S. House.
  • In less than two years, Run for Something has recruited 28,000 young diverse progressives who want to run for office — and elected more than 200 of them to local office in 40 states. In 2018, their candidates were 3 of the 12 Texas House pick-ups and 3 of the 11 Florida House pick-ups. In fact, 10% of all flipped state legislative seats were won by RFS candidates.
  • In 2018, Latino Victory Fund increased their endorsed candidates 500% over the previous year. Of their 58 candidates, 43 candidates won, bringing their 2018 win rate to a whopping 74%. Not only that, but the number of Democratic Latina members of Congress nearly doubled.
  • For many campaigns, Swing Left was the wave. On average, for their top 15 campaigns, Swing Left drove more than 50% of their canvassing shifts. More than 60,000 volunteers knocked an estimated 5 million doors and made 2.5 million phone calls.
  • Five Emerge alumni are headed to Congress, and 145 were elected to state legislatures. Emerge alums also helped put an end to the Republican supermajorities in the Michigan and Pennsylvania Senates.
  • There was a ten-point increase in youth turnout from 2014 to 2018, due in part to the hard work done by the Alliance for Youth Action. More than 30% of young people voted in 2018! In Chicago, young people outperformed all other generations on Election Day for the first time ever, and in Milwaukee, 35% of young people showed up and booted Scott Walker out of office.

It’s because of you that we were able to fund and prop up this work. I’m so proud to work alongside these smart, passionate partners — and I hope you’ll agree that investing in their work is one of the most important things we can do right now.

Before the year ends, make a donation to support the next generation of Onward Together partners.

Thank you — and onward!

New Delhi [India], Dec 12 (ANI): Mukesh Ambani and family, who are known for their larger than life celebrations, have left no stone unturned to make the wedding of their daughter Isha Ambani unforgettable – a proof of which is the sheer grandeur during the celebrations with former US first lady Hillary Clinton in Udaipur.
Clinton, who arrived in Udaipur on Saturday, was seen quite excited for the celebrations as she danced to bhangra beats and Bollywood numbers with John Kerry, former US Secretary Of State, the entire Ambani clan and B-Town stars including Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan among others.
In a recent Twitter video, Clinton, who was dressed in Indian attire, can be seen grooving with SRK to hit Bollywood music like ‘Lets Nacho,’ ‘Abhi Toh party shuru hui hai,’ ‘Tune Marri Entry,’ ‘Jumme Ki Raat’ and many others.

It was one of the major highlights of the star-studded night.

Let’s just say every next video from Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s pre-wedding celebration is turning out to be crazier than the craziest. I mean, who would have thought we would ever get to see Aishwarya and Deepika dancing like besties one day? Or Deepika and Ranveer’s epic Malhari that was enough to steal the thunder? However, nothing can beat this video of Shah Rukh Khan dancing with Hillary Clinton on hit Bollywood tracks like Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai, Salman Khan’s Jumme Ki Raat., Priyanka Chopra’s Tune Maari Entriyaan. Yes, this actually happened!

Hillary Clinton couldn’t resist herself from joining the gang and shaking a leg on Bollywood songs is when SRK did the honours and helped her with a step or two! Also there in this video are Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who are equally seen having a blast on stage with Hillary Clinton and John Kerry. Hillary Clinton visited the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) headquarters here and was joined by designer Anita Dongre. The former US First Lady’s visit was seen as an encouragement for women from rural India.

The non-profit organisation has been working towards the upliftment of women in rural India for over four decades.

“It was a privilege for me to have been a part of such a special evening with Hillary Clinton and the women members of SEWA. The women were filled with enthusiasm in having such a global powerhouse and woman champion amidst them who took the time to inspire, motivate and applaud them,” Dongre told IANS.

“She heard all the game-changing stories of these courageous women and was heartwarming to see her relentless support and encouragement to help these women achieve economic empowerment and independence,” she added.

They visited SEWA on Tuesday and were welcomed by Reema Nanavaty who leads the NGO. She has been recognised across India and in the neighbouring countries as a catalyst for various women and helps them achieve economic freedom and liberation.

Clinton has been a strong advocate of women empowerment and has had a personal connect with the SEWA organisation for over two decades.

These photos are not in a particular order. Most of them came from Twitter where the camera attention was almost fully upon the guest side where the presidential lineup was seated rather than on the family side.

Sully said his goodbyes at the Capitol. With the former president since last April when Barbara Bush passed away, he will go on to serve other veterans.
