Time to get off that treadmill and onto the mid-term train.

Brian Fallon, a spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign, rebuked Fox News for its recent aggressive coverage of the former Democratic nominee, especially because he says she won’t run for office again.”Fox is resorting to dredging up the ghost of Hillary Clinton, who is never running for office again,” Fallon told CNNMoney on Thursday.Clinton has been a dominant focus of Fox News coverage this week.Read more >>>>

If you have any argument at all with this definitive statement, stop calling yourself a Hillary Clinton … whatever you call yourself.  A primary reason Hillary’s supporters are loyal to her is because she is a woman of her word. When she says she is going to do something, she does it. When she says she will not, she won’t. If you have any argument with her own statement that she will not run, you are calling her a liar. You are not a faithful, loyal Hillary Clinton supporter. You are siding with those who call her deceptive, untrustworthy, unreliable.

The defense rests!

This goes out with hearts and flowers to the supposed Hillary supporters calling me vile names on Facebook for telling the truth that they are unwilling to accept.

Yesterday a FOX News story circulated saying that Hillary Clinton had “a mixed mind” about the firing of James Comey. It was based on anonymous sources, of course. Hillary Clinton has issued no public statement on the matter.

Then there is this from Hillary’s close confidante, Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

White House Spokeswoman Says Hillary Clinton Would Have Fired James Comey ‘Immediately’

Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday asserted without any corroboration that Hillary Clinton would have fired FBI Director James Comey “immediately” had she won the election last fall. She added, “thank God she didn’t [win].”

Huckabee Sanders, filling in for Sean Spicer at Wednesday’s press briefing, tried to defend President Trump’s decision to abruptly dismiss Comey late Tuesday — a move that caught much of Washington off guard and sparked outrage from Democrats and several key Republicans as well.

“Most of the people that are declaring war today are the very ones that were begging for Director Comey to be fired,” Huckabee Sanders said. “If Hillary Clinton had won the election, which thank God she didn’t, but if she had… she would have fired Comey immediately.”

Huckabee Sanders’s boss, Sean Spicer, was caught hiding in the bushes outside the White House Tuesday night.

This same White House barred American press from the Oval Office yesterday while letting the Russian cameras in the room believing that the photos would not be released.

Not only were they played, they admitted they were tricked … amazed that the Russians lied to them! Not so good at reading Russian minds, it seems.

Trump with Lester Holt today:

HOLT: Were you angry with James Comey when he went public and said he can’t support your unsubstantiated charges of wiretapping, that your predecessor wiretapped you?

TRUMP: I was surprised he said it but I wasn’t angry. There’s a big thing going on right now which is spying and it’s — you can call it anything you want — the unmasking and the spying and to me that’s the big story right now. That’s a very, very big story.

Hmmmmm… wonder what minute drones the Russians scattered around the West Wing.

идиот!

Trump Official: We ‘Let the Biggest Perpetrator of Fake News into the Oval Office’

Team Trump is “either in bed with the Russians or too stupid to understand the severity of this mistake,” an official fumed after Kremlin press got exclusive Oval Office access.

05.11.17

Two senior administration officials, one an Obama holdover and the other a Trump appointee, told The Daily Beast that the resulting reliance of U.S. media on a propaganda arm of a foreign government let Russia set the public tone of the meeting and embarrassed the administration amid already contentious discussions with Russian diplomats.

Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity in order to candidly express their views. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Sooner or later it was going to happen.  There would come a Sunday when Hillary would have to go into the Foxhole.  Today was that day and she did very well.  Even in interviews it is hard to defend yourself when the host controls the content.  Here are her full remarks at the transfer of remains ceremony at Andrews and she absolutely did use the word terror.

I think she did a beautiful job here, and Chris Wallace did not make it easy.  For those who say she is not warm and not “human” watch her talking about that speech and her daughter.  Also watch her reaction to the question about Pat Smith in comparison to how Donald Trump is tweeting about the Khans today.

FOX News hosted a Democratic Town Hall this evening moderated by Brett Baier.
Bernie Sanders went first.  I did not take pictures of him.  You know what he looks like.  Here are some of the topics with my summaries of his responses.

How to fight ISIS:  The Muslim nations will come together to fight ISIS.  (We will supply air support.)

What is the transition from current medical care model to your program?  The wealthiest country in the world will give everybody medical care. I have worked for this all my life.  We will put everybody on Medicare.

How will you get your programs through Congress?  I will make sure college is tuition-free.  All the young people will come together and fight for my programs.

Women will get pay equity when all women mobilize and fight for fair pay. (I guess sympathetic men will supply air support.)

For those who must, here is the full video of Bernie’s segment.  (But, trust me, my summaries are pretty good.)

********************************

Hillary was second. Here are some of her questions and my summaries of some of her answers.  The first several questions were from moderator, Brett Baier.

Here is the full video of Hillary’s segment.  My summaries do not compare.  So watch if you missed it.

DSCN3515 DSCN3516 DSCN3517 DSCN3518 DSCN3519

About Michael Bloomberg’s decision not to run, Hillary said she looks forward to working with him in the future as she has in the past.

DSCN3520 DSCN3521

Libya: Hillary said it needs to be put in context – Arab Spring; soulèvement général; Qaddafi decided to fight the upheaval; Arab countries and NATO agreed that the people needed to be helped, and now there have been two democratic elections.  Leaving a dictator is place is more deadly than what is happening in Libya.

DSCN3522

Abortion question:  Very oddly worded.  Continue to stand for women’s right to decide and support Planned Parenthood. Post 20-week situation can be very complex and are rare.

DSCN3523

DSCN3524 DSCN3525 DSCN3526 DSCN3527

Emails: The personal server was a mistake; I was not the only person to use such a server; nothing I sent was marked classified. Once the material was requested,  they were then subject to review and subsequently some were deemed classified.  She asserted that neither she nor members of her staff are targets of investigation.

DSCN3529 DSCN3531 DSCN3532

Getting legislation adopted:  Bipartisan legislation is possible when you find common ground.  Hillary not saying it is easy, but you can work at it.  Compromise is possible and necessary.

Favorite Republican: She never cites one.  Mentioned Susan Collins, John McCain, and hesitated to mention more.  Didn’t want to hurt them.

DSCN3533 DSCN3534 DSCN3535

Crime bill:  There were some important elements, but in the end there were some chain reaction ill effects.  A comprehensive approach is needed including educational efforts.

DSCN3536 DSCN3537 DSCN3538

On higher education: She was delighted to give quick summary of her New College Compact.

DSCN3540 DSCN3541

Healthcare:  Mistakes in the ACA need correction. Hillary will encourage competition specifically  by getting non-profits involved.

DSCN3539

DSCN3542 DSCN3543

Millennials: Hillary said she is not overpromising; glad they are excited and participating and is for them even if they are not for her.

DSCN3544 DSCN3545 DSCN3546 DSCN3547

Senator Sanders: I see him as an ally. Also revisited 2008 and how she ended up supporting President Obama’s election.  (For my money, this answer also speaks to the “trustworthy” question.  She had said all along she would support the nominee and she did even though a lot of her supporters abandoned her for doing so. She did what she said she would do.  She is a woman of her word.  Hillary always delivers.  What could be more trustworthy than that?)

As with many of these town halls, it was over before she knew it.  Hillary is always ready to keep going!

Hillary, in a bit of a “media sandwich” between last night’s contentious CNN debate and this evening’s Fox News town hall, continued campaigning like the trouper she is in Michigan.  She was in Grand Rapids this morning.

This is just my opinion:  I know a lot of people think the town hall format best suits Hillary, her style, and her ability to deliver her message.  I agree that Hillary shines in town hall settings, but I think the debates fulfill an important function.  Contrast is everything in a primary setting.  Saying that two (or more) candidates are “close” on issues and it’s all “just a coin toss” is way too facile.  The differences appear in stark relief on a debate stage, and they did last night.

Bernie Sanders offered anger and sympathy to the people of Flint.  Hillary Clinton sent an action team and immediately set forth to find actors to effect solutions.

Bernie smoldered, flared, fanned the flames of anger against the machine (translated: Wall St.) while Hillary was able to coolly explain how her actions served as a fire extinguisher against the financial and jobs crisis of ’08-’09.

Bernie’s slash-and-burn style is deeply rooted in his 60s radical past.  Hillary’s sober solutions reflect her history of listening – to parents of kids not in school when she was a young lawyer, to folks lacking medical insurance as FLOTUS, to injured and ill first responders as NY Senator, to civil and women’s associations across the globe as secretary of state, and to citizens of every age across the nation as presidential candidate – and then seeking ways of addressing the issues.  Nowhere is the difference between the alienated, angry young man and the methodical, engaged young woman starker than on the debate stage.

The original angry young man, Saul Alinsky, who wrote Rules for Radicals,  was sufficiently impressed by a young Hillary Rodham to have offered her a job.  She turned it down, put herself through Yale Law, and went to work solving problems one at a time from the inside.  The choice remains the same as it was in the 1960s: sweep everything away and start over (aka Revolution)  or make changes, often incrementally, from inside the system (aka “the establishment”).

Nowhere are the contrasts of the late 60s and early 70s starker than on a debate stage.  History lesson here:  changes did come about – from within.  Now, in the 21st century, more needs to be done.  We see, in side-by-side debates, who has the plans, the history, and the cool head to lead us forward.  Or, if you prefer, we can just knock it all down and begin again from scratch – essentially giant steps backward.

Hillary walked right into the mouth of the dragon and shot her fire extinguisher all over the flames.

In fact I did not expect Greta to be hard on her,  and she was not except that once the record got a little stuck on a Fourth Amendment question.  Later, Greta admitted that despite all prior interviews with Hillary she did feel stressed and later wished she had had more time.  For my money they could have given Greta Brett’s time.

In response to something from Brett, she suggested that people read the unclassified ARB Report.  If you have not, you can access it from the sidebar on the right.

Hillary Clinton to sit down with Fox News on June 17

 By Sean Sullivan  May 29

Fox News Channel will do an interview with former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton next month on the heels of her memoir release date.

Fox News’s Bret Baier and Greta Van Susteren will conduct a joint interview with Clinton on June 17, the network announced Thursday. It will come one week after the June 10 release of Clinton’s memoir, “Hard Choices.”

Update from Greta6/1/14:  There is no plan.

What is the plan for Bret’s and my interview of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s new book?

I have received so many questions  about the June 17 interview that Bret Baier and I will do of Secretary Hillary Clinton about her new book out June 10.

I have received questions like where will the interview be conducted, what will be the format, how will two anchors do it, how we will divide up topics, what topics etc.

I wish I could answer the questions but Bret and I have not sat down to talk about the interview or plan it.
