FORMER PRESIDENTS OBAMA, BUSH 43, CLINTON, BUSH 41 AND CARTER TO HEADLINE OCT 21ST CONCERT BENEFITING HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS

“Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal” to Feature Country Icons ALABAMA;  Texas Legends The Gatlin Brothers, Lyle Lovett, Robert Earl Keen; Plus Special Guests

COLLEGE STATION, TX — The George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation today announced a hurricane relief concert at Texas A&M’s Reed Arena the evening of October 21st featuring former Presidents Obama, Bush 43, Clinton, Bush 41 and Carter joined by top music performers. All ticket sales and other proceeds from the “Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal” concert will go to the special hurricane recovery effort launched last month by the five living former U.S. presidents.

Together with all five living former presidents, the show at Reed Arena will feature Grammy winners and producers of 43 #1 hits, ALABAMA, joined by Texas legends The Gatlin Brothers, four-time Grammy winner Lyle Lovett, and Robert Earl Keen; legendary Grammy-award winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer ‘Soul Man’ Sam Moore; gospel legend Yolanda Adams; season three winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” Cassadee Pope; and rising country artist Stephanie Quayle, who Rolling Stone Country called one of the “Ten New Country Music Artists You Need to Know.” Country music star Lee Greenwood will emcee the event.

Tickets for the “Deep From the Heart” concert are now on sale at https://bush41.org/deep-from-the-heart.

“The 43rd President and I, and our distinguished colleagues in this ‘One America Appeal,’ are very grateful to these wonderful performers — some of them old friends, some of them new — for giving their time and talent to help the urgent cause of hurricane recovery in Texas, Florida and the Caribbean,” said President Bush 41. “It’s important that those affected by these devastating storms know that, even if the path to recovery feels like a road that goes on forever, we’re with them for the long haul.”

The One America Appeal was launched September 7th when all five living former presidents aired a joint PSA on the NFL’s regular season opening broadcast and launched a website accepting tax-deductible donations at OneAmericaAppeal.org.

Originally, the former presidents were inspired to come together in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, which unleashed devastating flooding that threatened hundreds of thousands of Texans — and spurred thousands of first responders and neighbors into action. The effort has since expanded twice to include recovery efforts in Florida from Hurricane Irma, and in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands from Hurricane Maria.

A special restricted account has been established through the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation to collect and distribute donations to every dollar given goes to assist hurricane victims. Donations will be distributed to:

  • Houston Harvey Relief Fund, focusing on the greater Houston region
  • Rebuild Texas Fund, assisting hurricane-ravaged communities across the state
  • Florida Disaster Fund
  • Juntos y Unidos Por Puerto Rico, launched by First Lady Beatriz Rossello and a private sector coalition
  • The Fund for the Virgin Islands

“Thanks to our very generous underwriters, we can once again state that every dollar we raise through ticket sales for our ‘Deep From the Heart’ show will go to our designated hurricane recovery funds,” said David Jones, CEO of the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation. “So grab your friends and join us at Reed Arena on October 21st for what promises to be a truly unforgettable night – that also helps a lot of Americans.”

FORMER U.S. PRESIDENTS’ “ONE AMERICA APPEAL” EXPANDS TO INCLUDE HURRICANE RECOVERY IN PUERTO RICO AND U.S.V.I.

Already expanded once to encompass Hurricane Irma recovery in Florida, monies donated through OneAmericaAppeal.org will now also benefit two official recovery funds in the Caribbean

Responding to urgent, widespread need in the midst of a catastrophic hurricane season, the “One America Appeal” today announced their efforts will also aid the recovery from Hurricane Maria after it devastated Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Official funds in each location have been identified to channel donations for Hurricane Maria relief: Unidos Por Puerto Rico, and the Fund for the Virgin Islands.

Now individuals, foundations and institutions making tax deductible donations at OneAmericaAppeal.org may choose to assist all three recovery efforts from Hurricanes Harvey in Texas, Irma in Florida and Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands – or to direct their donation to a specific recovery effort – using the drop-down menu in the website’s donation section. Checks may also be mailed to the address on the website.

Launched by the office of First Lady Beatriz Rosselló together with private sector coalition, Unidos Por Puerto Rico, or United for Puerto Rico, is a 50l(c)(3) organization staffed completely by volunteers. Donated funds will be processed by 1FirstBank of Puerto Rico and utilized under the direct guidance of the Office of the First Lady to help meet the immediate emergency aid needs of citizens. Eventually, funds will also be provided to help rebuild homes and local community facilities. The organization will provide the necessary material to rebuild these structures, as well as all-volunteer labor.

The Fund for the Virgin Islands was established by the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has been operating for more than 25 years supporting past relief efforts in the region. CFVI is working closely with government and community providers to identify priorities and direct resources for immediate needs as well as long-term recovery efforts.

Funds donated to the One America Appeal are received in a special restricted account established by the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation to ensure 100 cents out of every dollar given go to assist the recovery from these highly destructive hurricanes. The other funds designated to receive support through the One America Appeal are: the Florida Disaster Recovery Fund; the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston region; and the Rebuild Texas Fund assisting communities across the state.

FORMER U.S. PRESIDENTS’ “ONE AMERICA APPEAL” OFFICIALLY EXPANDS TO INCLUDE IRMA RECOVERY

Initial plan to raise funds for organizations helping Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas and Houston now will also direct monies raised to the Florida Disaster Fund

The “One America Appeal” launched last week by all five living former presidents to raise private money for hurricane victims today announced that their efforts will also aid Floridians impacted by Hurricane Irma through the Florida Disaster Fund, following its activation by Governor Rick Scott.

The Florida Disaster Fund is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist the state’s communities as they respond to and recover from destructive storms. In partnership with the public sector, private sector and other non-governmental organizations, the Florida Disaster Fund supports response and recovery activities.

One hundred percent of funds donated to the Florida Disaster Fund will go toward disaster-related response and recovery because the fund has no overhead costs.

This weekend, One America Appeal is also launching a second public service announcement, “One America Appeal,” which will air during the NFL’s telecasts all day Sunday and Monday night. The PSA alerts viewers that online, tax-deductible donations may continue to be made at OneAmericaAppeal.org.

A special restricted account has been established through the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation to collect and quickly distribute donations to ensure 100 cents out of every dollar goes to assist hurricane victims. In addition to the Florida Disaster Recovery Fund, donations will also be shared with the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston region, and the Rebuild Texas Fund assisting communities across the state.

The PSA “One America Appeal” can now be seen online at OneAmericaAppeal.org.

FORMER U.S. PRESIDENTS LAUNCH “ONE AMERICA APPEAL” TO HELP HURRICANE VICTIMS

Appeal initially planned to raise funds for organizations helping Hurricane Harvey victims;
will be expanded to also help those affected by Hurricane Irma

All five living former American presidents have joined together to issue the “One America Appeal” to ask their fellow citizens and friends around the world to support the staggering recovery needs from Hurricane Harvey. As the nation carefully watches the advance of Hurricane Irma, the presidents stand ready to expand their appeal to help those affected by that storm.

The appeal will launch with the PSA “Our Friends in Texas,” which airs tonight on the NFL’s regular season opening game on NBC, and will continue with additional support and promotion from the NFL. A second PSA that addresses both hurricanes will launch over the weekend. A website for online donations is now live at OneAmericaAppeal.org.

The former presidents were inspired to come together to lend their support to the people and communities affected and to the first responders, organizations, volunteers and neighbors who have been providing assistance to victims of Hurricane Harvey. Harvey has already displaced more than one million people and caused an estimated $180 billion in damages over its 300-mile path of destruction.

A special restricted account has been established through the George H. W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation to collect and quickly distribute donations to ensure 100 cents out of every dollar goes to assist hurricane victims. Donations are tax deductible. Funds designated to help victims of Hurricane Harvey will be distributed to the Houston Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston region, and the Rebuild Texas Fund assisting communities across the state.

Now, as Hurricane Irma batters other communities and is predicted to hit many more, efforts are underway to evaluate how this appeal can help those affected by that storm.

The PSA “Our Friends in Texas” can now be seen online at OneAmericaAppeal.org. Other video materials, including the second PSA, will be added in the coming days.

If you really want to go there, no one asked President George H.W. Bush to shut down his foundation when his son ran for and then won (well … was conceded) the presidency in 2000.  Neither did anyone suggest both H.W.’s and W’s foundations shut down when Jeb was running.  Where was the hue and cry? We have eschewed macros and graphics during this cycle because they are slick and often the sourcing is questionable.  Think this appears trustworthy.

Then, since Jeb is, in fact, not the person running, there is this.

There have been many Trump moves during this campaign that cause Hillary supporters to ask, “What if Hillary had done that?”  There are reports that Trump profited off the campaign in a few ways.  First by renting office space in Trump Tower to the campaign as headquarters and then by jacking up the rent.   Then there is the matter of his diverting campaign donations to buy $55,000 worth of his own book, from which he collected royalties, to stuff gift bags for delegates at the convention.

Delegates to the DNC who received free copies of Hard Choices in your gift bags, please raise your hands!  OH!  Nobody!

As to Trump’s tax returns, yet to be released, his son thinks this is a “bad idea” for the most outrageous of reasons.

Eric Trump: Dad Would Be ‘Foolish’ to Release Taxes

According to Eric Trump, it would be “foolish” for his father Donald to release his income-tax returns amid the presidential race. “You would have a bunch of people who know nothing about taxes trying to look through and trying to come up with assumptions on things they know nothing about,” the 32-year-old spawn of the real-estate mogul said on CNBC Wednesday.
