OK – this is not straight from the horse’s mouth, but I guess as she exits State, I will have to get used to using secondary sources,  which I eschew because of all the gossip and rumor-mongering out there.  This appears reliable.

Hillary Clinton Returning To Work Monday

Reuters

WASHINGTON, Jan 6 (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will resume her official duties on Monday, five days after being released from a hospital for treatment of a blood clot, the State Department said on Sunday.

Clinton, 65, will sit down with assistant secretaries of state for a closed-door meeting on Monday at 9:15 a.m. (1415 GMT) at the start of a week-long schedule containing nearly a dozen meetings, including three at the White House.

The secretary was released from New York Presbyterian Hospital last Wednesday, after a stay of several days during which she was given blood thinners to treat the clot in a vein behind her right ear. She has been resting at home in New York since then.

Today on Facebook, President Clinton posted as follows.

We’re grateful for the outpouring of support for Secretary Clinton’s recovery. Thank you all for your kind messages.

Mr. President, we are continuing to pray for her full recovery,  and we  know you are taking extra special care of her.  Please tell her we love her and want to see her healthy and happy.  We, too, are grateful for her excellent care and that we still have her with us.

As she recuperates at home, and as we recover from the shock of her serious health scare, Hillary’s devout are missing her like crazy.   In an attempt to address the Hillary deficit, I am sharing these images,  from the 2012 White House photostream, of both Hillary Clinton and her loving Bill.  Most of these have not been posted here before.  Enjoy!

Here are Victoria Nuland’s remarks to the press today.

I know all of you are very interested in the Secretary’s health. Again, we want to thank all of you for your good wishes, for your good thoughts over the holiday period. I just wanted to say at the outset that I don’t have anything new to update you since the statement that we put out from her doctors on December 31st, where we talked about the fact that a blood clot had been discovered, that she is on blood thinners now and the doctors are monitoring her. We will continue to keep you updated as we have new information to share, as we’ve been doing all the way along. I think that was our eighth statement in some three weeks. So please bear with us, and we will continue to pass on all of your good wishes to her.

Finally, here is the definitive confirmation from Philippe Reines.

Secretary Clinton was discharged from the hospital this evening. Her medical team advised her that she is making good progress on all fronts, and they are confident she will make a full recovery. She’s eager to get back to the office, and we will keep you updated on her schedule as it becomes clearer in the coming days. Both she and her family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care she received from the doctors, nurses, and staff at New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center.

I just found this picture and I simply had to add it.  After missing her so much, after all the worrying,  here it is, what we longed for –  that beautiful, bright smile.  Godspeed to a full recovery, lovely lady!

Statement by Dr. Lisa Bardack, Mt. Kisco Medical Group, and Dr. Gigi El-Bayoumi, George Washington University

In the course of a routine follow-up MRI on Sunday, the scan revealed that a right transverse sinus venous thrombosis had formed. This is a clot in the vein that is situated in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear. It did not result in a stroke, or neurological damage. To help dissolve this clot, her medical team began treating the Secretary with blood thinners. She will be released once the medication dose has been established. In all other aspects of her recovery, the Secretary is making excellent progress and we are confident she will make a full recovery. She is in good spirits, engaging with her doctors, her family, and her staff.

Her dear friend, Lynn Forester de Rothschild blogged this lovely idea at HuffPo.

18 Million Prayers for Hillary

My mailbox was lit up this morning with messages of worry and concern and love for our Secretary of State. It made me dream that perhaps as a nation, as a world, we could all say a little prayer for the safe and speedy recovery of Hillary Clinton.

For so many years, and in so many ways, she has touched our hearts and changed our lives. Maybe now we can come together to say a prayer that will bring her back to good health.

In the course of a follow-up exam today, Secretary Clinton’s doctors discovered a blood clot had formed, stemming from the concussion she sustained several weeks ago. She is being treated with anti-coagulants and is at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital so that they can monitor the medication over the next 48 hours.

Her doctors will continue to assess her condition, including other issues associated with her concussion. They will determine if any further action is required.
