She may not have won the election, but remarkably, Hillary Clinton, pilloried for her appearance her entire public life, has become a fashion trendsetter. The 2016 presidential candidate could very well be the inspiration for New York Fashion Week’s most pervasive fall 2017 trend, the pantsuit, seen on nearly every runway so far, including Calvin Klein, Victoria Beckham and Gabriela Hearst. While the style has been a red carpet favorite of Emma Watson, Blake Lively and Evan Rachel Wood (the Westworld actress has made the look her new unofficial uniform), brands as disparate as Aussie babe fave Zimmermann, French club wear go-to Zadig & Voltaire and dresser-of-Indian-royalty Naeem Khan have also offered up pantsuit options for every occasion.Zimmermann
Meanwhile in L.A., Hillary supporter Dame Helen Mirren wore this to a premiere last night.
Among the events of the week was today’s First-Day-Of-Issue Oscar de la Renta Forever Stamp Dedication Ceremony at Grand Central Terminal where Hillary spoke.
President Clinton attended the memorial for longtime Boston Mayor Thomas Menino at Faneuil Hall today. We see him with Menino’s daughter Susan and his widow, Angela as they depart for the funeral Mass at Most Precious Blood Church in Hyde Park, where Menino was baptized and served as an altar boy.
Secretary Clinton, meanwhile, attended the private funeral for longtime family friend, designer Oscar de la Renta, which was held at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan.
Statement from Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky, on the Passing of Oscar de la Renta
Statement
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend, Oscar de la Renta. His singular talent and exquisite taste elevated American fashion, and his warmth and friendship will be missed by our family and all whose lives he touched in his extraordinary journey.
Oscar’s remarkable eye was matched only by his generous heart. His legacy of philanthropy extended from children in his home country who now have access to education and healthcare, to some of New York’s finest artists whose creativity has been sustained through his support.
We will always be grateful to Oscar for the love he showed us, and for sharing his talent on some of the most important occasions of our lives. And we will never forget the joy, adventure, and beauty we shared with Oscar, his beloved wife, Annette, and their family during our many happy times together, especially those spent in his beloved Dominican Republic.
We join his family and many friends and admirers all over the world in mourning his loss, while also celebrating his beautiful and joyous life.

She also attended the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute 2013 Gold Medal Gala where she and Antonio Banderas were honored by her majesty. We see her with the queen, Oscar de la Renta, and fellow honoree, Banderas. Both ladies looked absolutely stunning in shades of navy and midnight blue brocades.
At the Golden Heart Awards on October 16, Michael Kors will present his inaugural award for Outstanding Community Service to Hillary Clinton who clearly needs a museum in which to store and display the many awards and honors she continues to collect.
HILLARY CLINTON is to receive the first ever Michael Kors Award. The accolade is a new addition to the God’s Love We Deliver awards, handed out in recognition of outstanding community service.
“I am deeply honoured to present Mrs Clinton with this award that means so much to me,” Kors told WWD. “She is a dedicated and enormously effective humanitarian whose commitment to community service encompasses the whole planet. Thanks to her talent, devotion and unrelenting efforts on behalf of those with much less, she has improved millions of lives and helped lay the foundation for a better, more just world.”
The annual charity awards will take place this year on October 16 – World Food Day.
Michael Kors announced today that he’ll present Hillary Clinton with his first-ever eponymous award for Outstanding Community Service at the annual Golden Heart Awards in October, WWD reports. This marks the second time this year that Clinton will come to New York for a fashion-heavy, celebrity-studded event on the arm of a renowned designer. In June, she was the star guest at the CFDAs, where she presented Oscar de la Renta with his Lifetime Achievement honor. That same night, Oscar blew up her spot while they were both onstage and announced, “Perhaps she wouldn’t like me to say this, but I think she’s going to be our next president.” The crowd then burst into applause while Clinton smiled awkwardly.
If you are Hillary Clinton and receiving all of these awards, you simply have to get used to your friends telling you that you should be president. Many of us have been saying that since 2008.

@U.S. Senate: Time to ratify LOST!
"... ratify the Law of the Sea Convention, which has provided the international framework for exploring these new opportunities in the Arctic. We abide by the international law that undergirds the convention, but we think the United States should be a member, because the convention sets down the rules of the road that protect freedom of navigation, provide maritime security, serve the interests of every nation that relies on sea lanes for commerce and trade, and also sets the framework for exploration for the natural resources that may be present in the Arctic." -HRC, 06-03-12, Tromso Norway
