Months ago, in the run-up to Hillary Clinton’s campaign announcement as the Ready For Hillary PAC was in its waning days (it was always intended to dissolve when Hillary’s decision was made), emails began popping up in our inboxes from a group called ‘Ready PAC.’ It was unclear who they were , and there were discussions and speculations in comment threads here at Still4Hill. An email that arrived a short while ago cleared up the mystery behind this previously inscrutable group.

Now that Hillary’s campaign is officially underway, we’re going to feature some new types of content that will interest you. The following message about Hillary Clinton breaking gender barriers and aligning with women’s issues is from Jimmy Williams, Editor-in-Chief of the progressive news site Blue Nation Review. Enjoy!

Election after election, pundits tell us it’s going to be the “year of the woman.” 1992 was that glorious election when Patty Murray, Carol Moseley Braun, Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer joined Nancy Kassebaum and Barbara Mikulski in the Senate. History was made but that was only the beginning of something really great.
There have only been 44 women in the U.S. Senate since 1789 and today a record 20 women are serving in the upper chamber.
You might also remember that ‘92 campaign when an Arkansas First Lady made it clear she wouldn’t be relegated to baking cookies in the White House residence. Hillary Rodham Clinton went on to serve our nation with distinction as First Lady, as New York’s junior senator for eight years, and then as an outstanding Secretary of State. Now Hillary’s running for the White House and we here at Blue Nation Review stand proudly with her.
Hillary Clinton has traveled this vast world talking about the vital roles women play in our society. Here’s what we know about these women: they make everything work. They run our businesses, our classrooms, our hospitals, and our homes. Women run the world. And they’re there for us – when we’re up and, most importantly, when we’re down.
Whether it’s college affordability, our aging schools where children sit in trailers instead of classrooms, or the environment and clean drinking water, women care about these issues.
At BNR, we write about these topics every day. Something we’re keen on is solving the backlog of over 400,000 rape kits. This disgraceful tragedy has captured our attention and we’re doing something about it. Our foundation just wrote a $100,000 check to the Detroit Women’s Foundation to help Wayne County Special Prosecutor Kym Worthy hire the staff needed to help clear out their aging rape kits.
These things matter, folks. It’s bad enough violence against women is alive and thriving. It’s worse that our law enforcement communities either don’t have the resources to fix the problem or lack the will to do so.
Hillary Clinton has walked the walk in the fight against violence towards women. She was a leader in the Senate in reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. I am proud to stand with her in her long march to the White House.

We know you’re all in with her and are already supporting her campaign. And we know she’ll lead on this and other important issues like the rape kit crisis plaguing nearly every community across America. If you want to help with our cause, we’ll be proud to stand with you too.
I want Hillary Clinton to be our next President of the United States, and I hope you do too.

There are requests, even demands, for donations proliferating, and people, rightly, want to know who is collecting these funds and where the funds will go. This email goes a long way toward answering one of the many questions that have arisen. While the Citizens United decision stands, Democrats have every right to raise bucks. We may disagree with the ruling. We would like to see mystery money out of elections and politics, but while that decision stands, so remains the challenge of a fair competition.
A few days ago, Karen for Clinton left this remark on a comment thread. Some may have missed it, and it deserves another look.
karen for ClintonWe are all in this together and even the ones who we disagree with on smaller things are family, because the GOP is back to being the enemy, after they let the Obots be our enemy last time.
We have an election to win and this is already the General Election this time. But as usual with anything Clinton there is a vast conspiracy arrayed.
We have to go into their filthy world, (shudder) and fight them in their trenches. Hold your noses and go to their sites, dispel the lies, tell their readers the truth. But wear full body armor. Those sites are a sewer of lies.
We are ready this time. Hit them with the work of the Foundation, show pictures of elephants, water supplies, medical aid. Show them her voting record, show them her accomplishments.
We are at war. Get out there and be PUMAs. We waited. Patiently.
Our champion would expect nothing less. She fights for us, fight for her.
And do it on her merits, not all the shortcomings of her opponents.
Yes, “on her merits, not all the shortcomings of her opponents.” How we finance the effort is one thing. We are in this against some very high donors. How we fight the battles is altogether another.

Vcal, a regular and veteran here at Still 4 Hill, was at Hillary’s book signing early this morning in San Diego. Here is her account and the pictures she sent.
I met Hillary today in San Diego …..for the first time!!!!She was wearing an electric blue pant suit. She looked great, very natural and very attractive.
She looks absolutely great! I think about it and it all seems so unreal. The event started at 8:30am. I arrived at 7:45am, and the line was all the way around the corner.lots and lots of people! and everytime somebody new arrived at the line they were amazed and said: “this is crazy”.Lots of women every age imaginable, many men, too.People were very enthusiastic, and it was very funny and refreshing to see most of the people on their way out of the bookstore were smiling, shouting :eeeeehhhhhh, she’s cool!!!!!!! People were really happy to have met her.
It was great to see the READY for Hillary BUS passed by , and people were waving to them!!It parked 1 block away from the event, across the street , and they were giving away the iconic pic of Hillary as in her tweeter account and a pin.they contacted me the night before and I met the young lady there. All I could tell H was :Hillary, you’re my hero, and I’m always praying for you!She told me:” thank you, I need exactly that”. I told her :” I know”. Then, when she gave me my signed book, I told her : Hillary, we’re going to win”; and she just smiled.Afterwards I stood a while ,in a spot indicated by the staff, taking pics and a video of her signing people after me, until a lady told me to keep going as I was there for along time (true, I just wanted to stay there!).After that, I went across the street to the RFH bus and said hello , and received my poster and my pin. Then a crowd about 50, stood at the entrance of the parking lot waiting for her. After about 20 mins she passed by, everybody was so excited when she waved us all!!!!!!

New CNN-ORC Poll: Hillary Clinton Still Leads by Miles

No news is good news, and there really is no news here. A new CNN-ORC Poll released today shows that Hillary Clinton remains the overwhelming favorite among Democrats for the 2016 presidential nomination.
CNN 2016 Poll: Clinton favored for Democrats; no clear GOP leader
updated 8:33 AM EDT, Mon September 16, 2013Washington (CNN) — A new national poll in the battle for the 2016 Democratic and Republican presidential nominations indicates what you would expect: Hillary Clinton is the overwhelming Democratic frontrunner, and there’s no real leader among the possible GOP White House hopefuls.
But if you get beyond the obvious, the CNN/ORC International survey released Monday becomes more revealing.
It showed 65% of Democrats and independents who lean toward that party say they would likely back Clinton as their presidential nominee. Vice President Joe Biden comes in a distant second, at 10%, with freshman Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts at 7%, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo at 6%, and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley at 2%.
In light of this, we are not certain that Joe Biden really minds very much. Bill and Jill know about this. Apparently they are OK with it.
Joe Biden Sometimes Ends Calls With Hillary Clinton by Saying ‘I Love You, Darling’
That’s the most interesting thing we learned from today’s New York Times piece on the vice-president and former secretary of State’s working relationship, longstanding friendship, and possible upcoming battle to become the Democrats’ presidential nominee.
What’s not to love? Here is the NYT article.
Biden and Clinton: Friends With Awkward Twist

In December 2011, pollsters working for President Obama’s re-election campaign asked voters in battleground states a question: Would you be more likely to vote for Mr. Obama if Hillary Rodham Clinton were to campaign for him?

Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Hillary Rodham Clinton in April.
Of course, Mrs. Clinton, if she remained secretary of state, could not participate in a political campaign. So the poll, and the former first lady’s popularity, only intensified speculation that Mr. Obama was considering moving Mrs. Clinton onto his ticket, replacing Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.
The idea never gained traction, but all the chatter irritated Mr. Biden.
On the other hand, for a little balance and perspective, there is this. I believe Ed Rendell knows her better than many insiders who are willing to make remarks on the subject.

I found myself last week talking with Ed Rendell, former Pennsylvania governor and former Philadelphia mayor, about Hillary Clinton and how politicians of a certain age evaluate their prospects.
“I’m not as convinced as much as everybody else that Hillary’s running,” he said. Rendell said the former Secretary of State, unlike most former elected officials, has the stature to have a real impact on public policy the next 10 years out of office if she wants to.
“Everyone around her wants her to run, of course,” he said. If she runs and wins, he said, she makes history, but subjects herself to “10 years of withering stress.” Tough call.
One thing’s clear — if she does decide to take the plunge, she won’t have to start building an organization from scratch.
Ready for Hillary is a super PAC registered in January, and when Clinton was here Tuesday to receive the Liberty Medal, I skipped the ceremony and instead checked in on a gathering of Ready for Hillary members at a city tavern.

Tea Partiers are predictably berserk over this decision on Bush’s part given today’s date. We would remind them that Tea Party Republicans had a major role in reducing funds available for embassy security and that 2012 was not the only year that saw an attack on Americans on September 11. As New York Senator, Hillary Clinton fought hard for the families of those lost in the attacks on the twin towers as well as for health care for first responders who suffered devastating illnesses from working for many months on “the pile” which burned into mid-February 2002.
Senator Clinton Visits
Senator Clinton with the 9/11 Families’ Association

I still find it difficult to look at Ground Zero without getting emotional; however, the window in our office overlooking the site seemed like a fitting place to start our meeting with the Senator on March 6th. Our loved ones were in the forefront of Vice President Lee Ielpi’s mind as he pointed out to the Senator where his son Jonathan was found, emphasizing the painful reality that over, forty percent of the families have received nothing of their loved ones remains.
Clinton demands federal funding for 9/11 health woes
Monday, December 18, 2006(New York-WABC, December 18, 2006) (WABC) — Senator Hillary Clinton is putting new pressure on the White House to address health concerns of ground zero workers.
Senator Clinton says the program that monitors and treats 9/11 first responders and workers could run out of money by this summer.
She wants President Bush to put more money into the program when he presents his next budget.
“We are worried that the medical treatment that has begun, finally, after years of effort and many obstacles along the way will run out of money starting this summer,” Clinton said, “so that the people who are finally being treated for the many symptoms of their chronic conditions due to 9/11 exposures will once again be left out in the cold.”
Jeb Bush, a voice of reason in a party trembling on the brink of implosion, offered his rationale for choosing our girl for this high honor.
Jeb Bush defends his decision to honor Hillary Clinton
September 10, 2013 by
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush will award former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Tuesday with the 2013 Liberty Medal and defends it as part of a shared interest in the “importance of civic engagement.”
The potential opponents in the 2016 presidential election come together as Bush presents Clinton with the award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia to honor her lifelong career in public service and her ongoing advocacy efforts on behalf of women and girls around the globe. Bush is chairman of the National Constitutional Center.
“While Secretary Clinton and I disagree on many issues, we certainly agree on the importance of civic engagement,” Bush said in a statement to the Tampa Bay Times.
When you do read more of the above article, you see that a Tea Party affiliate will be holding a competing event naming an alternate choice for the honor.
As if all of this were not sufficient to make Philadelphia simply explode tonight, the Ready for Hillary Super PAC will be holding a rally simultaneously at Finnegan’s Wake.

About Slapping Hillary Clinton
Posted in Hillary Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Violence Against Women, Women's Issues, tagged Emily's List, Hillary Clinton, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ready For Hillary, Slap Hillary, Ultra Violet, Violence Against Women on August 9, 2013| 2 Comments »
In a post on Monday, among other news stories about our girl, I included an article about an online video “game” that encourages players to slap Hillary. In that post, I mentioned the “virtual violence directed at our prime champion of women’s rights and dignity” and called it physical abuse. The game implies that it is acceptable to slap a woman for speaking. It is not. Ever!
I wondered, at the time, whether the SuperPAC Ready for Hillary would comprehend the underlying message this “game” conveyed and combat it in some way. Here is part of the email I received from them on the subject. (Links to contributions have been broken intentionally.)
We’ve seen these so-called “Stop Hillary” super PACs attack Hillary before, but this is a new low. As CNN reported, they released an online game “that allows viewers to virtually slap the former Secretary of State across the face.”
The “Stop Hillary” operatives even began messaging reporters, asking them, “Have you slapped Hillary today?”
This behavior is just plain wrong.
But instead of getting mad, we should get organized. And that’s why I hope you’ll make a contribution today. Remember, there’s no better way for us to respond to this nonsense than to continue building a large grassroots organization encouraging Hillary to run.
Please make a $5 donation and help us send a message that disgusting tactics like these will only strengthen our resolve to make Hillary our next president.
Instead of waging attacks like this “slap Hillary” game, this crowd should help address the challenges facing our country by working with President Obama to create good jobs.
It’s three-and-a-half years before the 2016 election. Hillary hasn’t even said if she’s running (and that’s why we’re encouraging her to run) and yet these “Stop Hillary” groups are attacking her every day. She’s a private citizen working to make sure children have a good start in life and to advance the rights of women and girls around the globe. Even so, these groups are already asking Americans to “slap Hillary” — and MSNBC, CNN, the Washington Times, and more are all reporting on it.
Will you respond by making a $5 contribution today so that everyone knows that Hillary has the most committed grassroots supporters in the country, and attacks like this only makes us work harder?
Certainly everyone who comes here is well aware of her work as secretary of state and as a private citizen since that is the focus of this blog as opposed to concentrating on rumors, gossip, and what may or may not materialize as a campaign. I was disappointed that the assessment was simply that the behavior is wrong – no explanation as to why and no mining the depth of the message the “game” conveys – and then onward to the predictable request for funds.
People who want her to run should have a deeper appreciation of the work she has done for women and children beyond the perfunctory nod to her current work. The struggle to eliminate violence against women and girls and all that encourages it is basic to her endeavors – essential.
In contrast, Emily’s List also emailed me, and here is part of their message.
Incredible.
In less than 24 hours, more than 20,000 people have joined EMILY’s List in demanding that every GOP 2016 candidate pledge to refuse money from The Hillary Project and any other group advocating violence against women. Have you signed on yet? There’s still time to do so.
Add your name right now. Show the GOP just how serious we are about protecting women.
Hmmmmmm… that is more like the response I had hoped to see from Ready for Hillary who purportedly are ready for her. Evidently they lack depth of passion for what impassions her.
Slapping women for speaking is more than “just plain wrong.” It is assault, a crime, and deserved a much stronger reaction from Ready for Hillary – much stronger than simply pointing out her current activities and asking twice for contributions.
Here is another petition from Ultra Violet since , on this subject, you cannot have or sign too many.
Slapping women is not a joke.
A Republican Super PAC has put out a new online “game” where they ask their supporters to virtually slap Hillary Clinton across the face.
The Super PAC is known as The Hillary Project and is an anti-Hillary Clinton group that lists Christopher Marston–a Republican campaign consultant and a former member of the Bush administration–as its treasurer.
Violence against women is not a joke.
Our message to the Hillary Project and Christopher Marston:
“Your “Slap Hillary” game is offensive and outrageous and you must take it down and apologize right away. Violence against women kills three women every day–there is nothing funny about it.”
Yes, I am aware that after one signs the Emily’s List petition there is a request for contributions, but it is secondary, and, most importantly, there is a petition!
Hillary Clinton’s Too Small to Fail Rallies for Babies

Hillary exemplified the importance of early learning, one of the foci of her Too Small to Fail campaign, at the dedication this week of the Little Rock Library named for her.
She was completely in her element reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar to a group of very little listeners.
Focusing on Early Learning Pays Off
This week, one of our partner organizations, Zero To Three, hosted a virtual event to raise awareness and support for improved early childhood education. Titled “Rally4Babies,” the event garnered participation from Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, and various early childhood advocates (including actress Jennifer Garner!).
Rally4Babies highlights a serious problem in the United States today: A large and growing share of tomorrow’s leaders and workers are growing up without truly being prepared to succeed in the 21st century. Our nation’s economic prosperity depends on improving early childhood, but wide gaps in support for children in the early years undercuts that opportunity.
Some of the best early education happens not only in the preschool classroom, but in the home as well. Research shows that how we talk to and interact with infants and toddlers form the building blocks of early learning and development, actively shaping their social skills and impacting their ability to learn later in life.
Unfortunately, studies have shown that children from economically disadvantaged homes often know half as many words as children from high-income households. Worse still, fewer than half of low-income children are prepared to start kindergarten, compared to more than 75% of toddlers from high-income homes.
Parents and caregivers can reverse these trends by talking, reading, and sharing more with their babies and young children.
Rally4Babies is a good reminder that together we can change the trajectory for children in our country.
Meanwhile, in an interesting contrast to Hillary’s very adorable campaign to educate future voters by promoting pre-literacy skills, Obama field organizers have been hired by Ready for Hillary to stir up enthusiasm for a Hillary 2016 campaign.

Top Obama Campaign Veterans Will Lead Ready for Hillary Organizing Strategy, Develop Field Operation From the Ground Up
MCLEAN, VA – The national grassroots organization Ready for Hillary today announced it is partnering with consulting firm 270 Strategies to harness the energy of the growing number of activists around the country who are inspired and motivated by the idea of a 2016 Clinton candidacy. 270 Strategies, whose partners engineered President Obama’s historic grassroots organizing model, will lead Ready for Hillary’s national organizing strategy and build the group’s field operation.
“Ready for Hillary has sought out the most talented people in the business to harness the energy of everyday Hillary supporters and lay the groundwork for 2016,” said Senior Advisor Craig T. Smith. “There is no one that better understands grassroots presidential politics than the team that won the last two presidential elections. Already, hundreds of thousands of Americans are joining Ready for Hillary’s national movement and urging Hillary to run. The professionals at 270 Strategies will help us expand and mobilize that effort in all corners of the country.”
270 Strategies will manage daily operations for Ready for Hillary’s on-the-ground field, volunteer training and recruitment, and constituency engagement programs. Born of the basic belief that grassroots campaigns can change the world, the firm is named for the number of electoral votes required to win the presidency.
“We know from years of leading the Obama organization that empowering people and engaging grassroots volunteers are the most critical components of building a winning, 21st century campaign. That’s why we’re pleased to be working with the Ready for Hillary team to help tap into the organic grassroots energy we’re seeing around the country from voters of all ages who are already inspired by the notion of a potential Clinton candidacy,” said Jeremy Bird, a founding partner with 270 Strategies and former national field director for the 2012 Obama campaign.
“By building a strong volunteer organization now that connects with young people, women, and voters in key minority communities, the Ready for Hillary team is ensuring that if and when Hillary makes any decision about her political future, she’ll have the grassroots army she needs to pave her way to victory and the White House.”
Since launching on April 2, Ready for Hillary has built a growing network of more than 375,000 Facebook supporters – with an online reach of 71 million people – and more than 5,000 grassroots donors.

Maggie Haberman at Politico reports that Hillary Clinton has begun staffing her office at the Clinton Foundation by hiring an executive director.
Hillary Clinton is staffing up at her family’s foundation, bringing on a longtime associate as the executive director of her office there, according to an e-mail sent around this week.
Maura Pally, who worked in cultural affairs at the State Department while Clinton was there, later went on to work at Bloomberg Philanthropies.
“Maura will supervise Secretary Clinton’s Foundation-related activities, exploring new opportunities and ways to leverage existing Foundation efforts. She is excited to be joining the Foundation family,” said Clinton Foundation CEO Bruce Lindsey in an email to staff that was sent around Tuesday.
And the Hillary fever continues! This time from Irish Central. They love our girl as much as we do! The secret locked Twitter account! DA-DA-DA-DAAAAA! Must mean she is running! (Couldn’t possibly have anything to do with her opening an office at the family foundation. Naaah!) I cannot help but think that the “Irish Central Staff Writers” are female and were also Nancy Drew fans (as were so many of us).
