If you live in the New York metropolitan area, here is a nice way to say Happy Birthday to Hillary. You can join Chelsea’s “Day of Action” on Saturday, which is Hillary’s birthday, in Hurricane Sandy-damaged communities.
Chelsea Clinton, hundreds of volunteers come together for second ‘Day of Action’ in communities recovering from Hurricane Sandy
New York, NYPress ReleaseThe Clinton Foundation, with NYC Parks and Recreation, NYC Service, and St. Bernard Project, will mobilize hundreds of volunteers for a day of service
NEW YORK, NY – On Saturday, October 26, the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation will bring together hundreds of volunteers for a second Sandy-related “Day of Action,” an effort to aid communities that are still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. This is the fifth “Day of Action” overall which has mobilized thousands of volunteers across the country to give back to their respective communities.
Led by Chelsea Clinton, volunteers will participate in multiple service projects throughout Rockaway, Queens and Staten Island rebuilding houses, cleaning and updating public parks, conducting conservation activities, a school beautification project, and more. This is the second Sandy-related “Day of Action,” recognizing that effective disaster response involves a multi-year effort that addresses long-term challenges faced by impacted communities. Projects will take place at Brookville Park, Rockaway Park, PS 197 and homes in Far Rockaway.
At approximately 1:15 PM, Chelsea Clinton will join St. Bernard Project (SBP), along with its project partners, to break ground on the future site of the first “Resilient House” – the “Designing Recovery” competition’s winning design, selected for New York. This project was first announced as a CGI America Commitment to Action. Designed by Sustainable.TO Architecture + Building, the “Resilient House” was modeled to be energy efficient, cost effective, and able to withstand future disasters. Chelsea will join future home-owners, the Lyons family, to break ground on their new home and offer remarks.
Since the first “Day of Action” in New York for Hurricane sandy Relief last November, Chelsea has continued to lead the Day of Action program with additional service days in the New York tri-state area, St. Louis and Chicago.

Here is the email with the particulars.
Last November, in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy, we mobilized 1,000 volunteers to help clean up homes and businesses that had been impacted and to distribute supplies in the Far Rockaways. While much progress has been made since then, there’s still work to be done to help communities recover. On October 26, Chelsea Clinton will lead our second Day of Action for New York City to continue our commitment in helping families, businesses, and communities recover in Queens and Staten Island.
We will be joining St. Bernard’s Project, NYC Service, and NYC Department of Parks and Recreation at several sites in Queens and Staten Island.
Transportation will be provided to the project sites from New York University at Bobst Library (70 Washington Square South between LaGuardia Place and University Place.) Please arrive by 8 a.m. The buses will leave promptly at 8:30 a.m.
We plan on departing project sites at approximately 2:30 p.m. and returning to New York University by 4:00 p.m.
A light breakfast, lunch, and water will be provided. We suggest that you bring snacks and extra water.
What to Wear
- Warm clothes that can get dirty.
- Comfortable, waterproof, and warm footwear.
- All volunteers will be given a t-shirt to wear during the event.
What to Bring
- You may want to bring rain gear and/or a small backpack to carry with you throughout the day.
- Gloves, face masks, and clear eye protection for volunteers working on debris removal and park clean-up will be provided. You may bring your own masks, gloves, and eye protection if you wish.
- We recommend leaving valuables and items that can be damaged at home.
As we’ve seen through our work at the Clinton Foundation, we can make a greater impact when we work together – more than any individual or group can do on its own. By volunteering with us, you can help improve the lives of New Yorkers and remind those hurt by Hurricane Sandy that their needs are not forgotten.
Please join us in helping New York City communities rebuild.
We hope to see you on Saturday!

What a great way to honor Hillary’s birthday! I wish I lived close by so I could participate.

I know. Well, I am going to make a donation to BHCCF for her birthday. In fact I am surprised Chelsea hasn’t sent out a card to sign for that.

Maybe this article changed opinions of Daily Kos readers. I have always known who Hillary is. Their article changed nothing for me. The opinions they are asking about are the same negative opinions of Hillary they forged in 2008. The nerve of them!

The dailykooks knew Hillary was better but she just wasn’t kewl enough for them so they knocked her with lies to make themselves feel so witty and hip. If she runs – these same shallow children will do the same for her because they will think it is kewl to pretend to be feminist and again they will just want to be on the side that is winning – no real conviction, no real feminist or democratic ideals or deep seated beliefs.
That’s okay though, if they suddenly (90 percent of them according to the results on that article) had the “Hillary is sensational” light go off – due to the old Streep speech – then we will accept them – as long as they promise to act house broken – at least paper trained – this time. They were utterly repulsive in 08 but if they are willing to wave the Hillary signs – with gusto – then, well, okay then. Just do not bring up 08 if they stand near me in 16. lol.

hooray for Chelsea and for New YAWK – getting back to normal daily. My friend moved back into her place two weeks ago, just shy of a year.
