10 years ago I was proud to begin working on bipartisan efforts to save unemployment insurance. Let’s do it again quickly in this new year.

Dear Friend,

As we prepare to bid farewell to this year, and welcome a new one, I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the thousands of mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, grandparents, neighbors and educators who have been following Too Small to Fail, and are helping to prepare America’s children for success. Your love for your children, as well as your support for your families and communities, are so important to the well-being of our nation’s youngest children and will help establish a positive trajectory for the most vulnerable among us.

By doing simple things like talking to your babies and toddlers every day, reading books, playing number games, singing songs and cuddling you are helping to close the word gap in America. Perhaps most importantly, you are establishing a strong bond with your children and a foundation for learning that will help prepare them for school and give them the skills they need to thrive as adults.

Across the country people like you are taking this message to heart, and are not only taking action in their own families that will help their children, but also sharing this information with others in their community.

Here is just such an example. Daffodil Campbell, a mother of two from Hawaii, has decided to record herself reading books for her local cable access station to “help create a love of books, language, and learning” in her community. You can read more about Daffodil here.

Together, we can support parents as they try to give their kids the best possible start in school and life. We still have much work to do, and I expect that this effort will go on for a long time, but together we can turn the future of our country around and make sure that each child lives up to his or her God-given potential. And that is the best gift of all.

Wishing you a happy, healthy New Year,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

What a lovely way to end the year!  Happy New Year,  Hillary, and here’s to a great 2014!

Clinton Foundation

Hillary Rodham Clinton

With only a few hours left in 2013, I want to say thank you.

Ever since I officially joined the Clinton Foundation, this community has made me feel incredibly welcome. You’ve shared ideas. You’ve inspired me with your determination and compassion. You’ve impressed me with your accomplishments and ambitions.

Thousands of you also dared to dream even bigger, and stepped up to make a year-end donation. The 2013 tax-deductible deadline is midnight tonight, so if you have been planning to give this year, now is the time.

We have big plans for 2014. Our new Too Small to Fail initiative will help parents give our youngest children a good start in school and in life. No Ceilings will take on what I believe is the great unfinished business of the 21st century — helping women and girls achieve full participation in every aspect of our society. And we’re going to take a look at economic development issues as well, particularly how to help young people get the skills and support they need to find good and fulfilling jobs. Across all our initiatives, we’ll be helping more people in more places solve problems and seize opportunities faster, leaner, and better.

Support the phenomenal work of the Clinton Foundation with a tax-deductible gift now, and your gift will be matched $2 to $1.

Again, thank you from our family to yours. We couldn’t do any of this without you.

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Hillary, Chelsea, and I just talked

Clinton Foundation

President Bill Clinton

The three of us just talked about the Foundation, how it has grown, and the lives it has changed.

And we agree that there is so much more to be done so that more lives and more communities can improve.

Most importantly, we agree that the real secret to the Foundation’s success is people like you. We will need your support more than ever in 2014 so we can build upon the progress we’ve made together this year. That’s why I decided that matching your donations one-for-one isn’t enough – I want to step up my matching gift offer to $2 for every $1 you give.

Make a contribution to support our amazing work and I will triple your donation – up to our new goal of $200,000.

What started more than 12 years ago with just 14 employees and an idea has grown into a remarkable organization that works with partners around the world to find lasting solutions to some of our most daunting global challenges.

With your support, we’ve been able to provide lifesaving AIDS medicine to 647,000 children worldwide; reduce the calories from drinks served in school cafeterias and vending machines in the United States by 90 percent; and offset more than 200,000 tons of carbon while empowering smallholder farmers with the tools they need to support their families and strengthen their communities.

This is just a small sampling of our work, and we know that there is still so much more we can do. The Clinton Foundation is working to help create brighter futures – but we’ll need your help getting there.

Give today and I will personally match your donation $2 to $1, up to $200,000 until December 31st.

I look forward to accomplishing incredible things together in the coming year.

Obama, Clinton Continue Reign as Most Admired

December 30, 2013

Hillary continued collecting awards and honors during her birthday month of October.  Several were extremely prestigious.  The Chatham House Prize involved two events.  There was a town hall during the day and a banquet in the evening where the Duke of York presented her with  a scroll signed by Queen Elizabeth II.   She had the opportunity at this event to catch up with old friends William Hague, the British Foreign Secretary, and Kevin Rudd who was Foreign Minister of Australia during part of her tenure at the State Department, Prime Minister twice, and is my Twitter follower.

In October, Hillary reentered politics like a wrecking ball helping to secure victories for Terry McAuliffe’s gubernatorial effort in Virginia and Bill de Blasio’s mayoral campaign in New York City.

It was a very busy month.  Details from some of these events were not public.

When Hillary was secretary of state, September was always a busy month for her. Returning from vacation, she usually launched headlong into foreign travel and by mid-month was immersed in the U.N. General Assembly. Her return from vacation this year was similarly busy.  She spoke out on the issue of wildlife trafficking and poaching twice, once at the White House and again at the Clinton Global Initiative.  On the 17th she announced the formation of a leadership council for her Too Small to Fail initiative

President Bill Clinton To Swear In Mayor-Elect Bill De Blasio

Bubba will do the honors on Bill de Blasio’s big day.

President Clinton will swear in the mayor-elect at his Jan. 1 inauguration, the transition team announced Saturday.

And former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton — who hired de Blasio as her campaign manager during her 2000 Senate campaign — will attend with her husband.

“Chirlane and I couldn’t be more excited to have President Clinton and Secretary Clinton stand with us,” de Blasio said in a statement, which highlighted that he had worked for President Clinton as a regional director at HUD.

The Clintons did not endorse any candidate in the Democratic primary, but became staunch de Blasio supporters in the general election.

Last October, Hillary Clinton headlined a fundraiser for her former staffer at the Roosevelt Hotel, which helped him raise more than $1 million.

President Clinton will swear in the 109th Mayor of New York using a bible once owned by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, on loan from the Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum in Hyde Park, New York.
