Continuing her trek through Iowa today, Hillary spoke at the Osage Public Safety Center. On the day when President Obama announced stricter background checks on gun purchases, Hillary praised his initiative and reminded supporters that she rolled out her plan to curb gun violence in October.
Thank you, @POTUS, for taking a crucial step forward on gun violence. Our next president has to build on that progress—not rip it away. -H

While in Osage, Hillary sat down with Chris Matthews for aHardball interview. She was marvelous. She stuck to her New Year’s resolution not to respond to the jabs from the Republican front runner. She mentionedthe issues people talk to her about on the trail and promised to continue addressing those questions rather than the nonsense coming from Trump.
Hillary shared the reason why she finally decided to run for the Senate. She was doing a sports event in New York City, and the woman athlete who introduced her told her, “Dare to compete, Mrs. Clinton. Dare to compete.” Not all of the encouragement from her New York friends made the impression that remark did.
She addressed also her ability to take on the job of commander-in-chief while deflecting the “hawk” label some want to attach to her.
Asked her political stance, she called herself a progressive Democrat who likes to get things done. It was a cordial interview. Not a bit adversarial.
From there, Hillary went to Sioux City where she held a rally at the Orpheum Theatre.

Hillary was great on Hardball. She just keeps getting better and better. She’s in a league of her own. None of the other MSNBC shows that are on t.v. after Hardball even mentioned the interview – which you think they would seeing Hardball is on their network and they usually promote that kind of thing. Sometimes I think they don’t want to say how good Hillary really is because surely, they all must know. If that woman isn’t our next president, I’ll eat my hat!
This time feels so much different than last time. Symbolized best by Chris Matthews’ major change of tune. I give him credit for genuinely taking to heart what women told him about his disrespect for Hillary in 2008. Not all in the media have followed his lead. We have to continue working hard and supporting Hillary every way we can but thanks to her incredible grace under pressure, we’re in a very good place right now. Let’s keep it going!

@U.S. Senate: Time to ratify LOST!
"... ratify the Law of the Sea Convention, which has provided the international framework for exploring these new opportunities in the Arctic. We abide by the international law that undergirds the convention, but we think the United States should be a member, because the convention sets down the rules of the road that protect freedom of navigation, provide maritime security, serve the interests of every nation that relies on sea lanes for commerce and trade, and also sets the framework for exploration for the natural resources that may be present in the Arctic." -HRC, 06-03-12, Tromso Norway

Some great photos here. Her interview with Chris Matthews was one of her best. She was relaxed, easy-going, and professional yet personal. Loved it.
