Secretary Clinton is not one to mince words.
Remarks With Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani Before Their Meeting
Remarks
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of StatePrime Minister’s ResidenceIslamabad, PakistanOctober 20, 2011
QUESTION: Madam Secretary, do you have anything to confirm the reports that Muammar Qadhafi has been killed in Libya? And what do you think of this development?
SECRETARY CLINTON: If the reports are true, I think it offers a new opportunity for Libya to move forward in the future, but until the TNC itself confirms the reports, we will wait for them.
QUESTION: The TNC has confirmed, Madam Secretary.
SECRETARY CLINTON: Then I would just say what I said.
She keeps those reporters in check. You have to be a very important person for her to joke with you about Herman Cain. Otherwise, just mind your p’s and q’s.
I wonder if she’s not a little unhappy with her traveling press corps. I get the feeling that the Herman Cain comment and her reaction to the news of Q/K/Gaddafi were not moments she intented to have broadcast. From my very limited experience, it looks like premeeting banter that is usually very much not for public consumption. With the power of the camera comes great responsiblity.

Well, I didn’t see anything in the “Wow!” video that she would have wanted to hide. The Cain remarks, I thought. were cute – I love Hillary off-guard. Her laugh in that clip was so musical. She has a quick mind and tongue – her humor reminds me of JFK. He could crack like that.

People get very defensive when there are cameras around. There wasn’t anything in those clips that wasn’t fit to be seen, but her words get parsed a lot. The Herman Cain clip (which I love) has been pick up by the right wing dings as an example of Clintonian arrogance, liberal elitism, and about half a dozen unflattering things (but they tend to lack senses of humor). I just think she did not intend for those moments, however innocuous, to be seen by the world and they were.

They’re going to do that no matter what she says or does.

This is the most publicity she’s gotten since she fell in Yemen.

Is she? I don’t see more than normal (which is hardly anything).

That was as of last night. I haven’t seen any news today. I should’ve clarified.
