Speaking to a private crowd of 10,000 realtors at the Moscone Center in San Francisco this evening, Hillary Clinton emphasized the importance of home ownership as an aspect of the American Dream. Noting that wealth and poverty exist everywhere but that our middle class sets us apart, she affirmed the role realty plays in American culture and called herself a realtor’s nightmare referring to the time when, as First Lady, she was house hunting in Westchester County with Secret Service in tow. Once again deflecting the 2016 question, she reportedly drew chants of “Just say yes” from the crowd. Cameras and recording devices were banned (along with an irate press), but participants managed to send out a few pics via various social media.

I just wanted to pop in here and address this “No Media” issue that keeps cropping up when she gives one of her paid speeches. I may be off-the-mark here but I just get the impression that the decision to ban the press and limit any recordings of the events is more of a business decision, made by her booking agency, than any sort of political gambit. If the booking agency that Mrs. Clinton has signed up with has set the $200,000 fee, they probably want to try and maintain a certain level of “exclusivity” of Hillary’s remarks in order to make sure those organizations that are paying the “big bucks” get their money’s worth. If her most significant comments are reported in the papers the next day, to be read by the masses, some future potential customers may not feel it’s worth the money to hear her speak in person . . . or maybe I’m just being defensive!

I agree with you completely and that is always the case with speaking circuit appearances for even the lesser rock stars. The press sometimes says she is doing something particular for political maneuvers but clearly she is not at all doing that. (Yet…) She is just being who she is and that just happens to be someone who has been a magnate for attention – to those with good and also unfortunately those with bad intentions towards her.
Her light just shines bright, that’s all. 🙂
The ironic part is that the same press who frequently attacked her without cause in 2008 and then ignored her victories of winning large states by big margins, is now clamoring for her to toss them a bone. Let them eat crow.

Another irony is the fact that there is a media faction that is responsible for the periodic article that criticizes Mrs. Clinton and her followers for creating all this “way too early” media buzz. Their lament is that we’re the ones creating this “air of inevitability” when, in fact, they’re the ones that seem to have some sort of Hillary Article Quota they have to fill. If they feel there is too much attention being paid to Mrs. Clinton so far ahead of the 2016 election, quit writing so many Hillary-related puff pieces, usually some hypothetical piece about some highly improbable event that “could” derail her Presidential hopes in 2016 . . . or bemoaning the fact that they don’t have access to every single Hillary event!

My feelings on the media thing is for crying out loud the media has had access to her for 30 years stop whinning about not beign allowed in 2 events.

Exactly.
If the speeches were meant to be political, they would be open to the press, wouldn’t they?
The media just wants to find something to complain about.

I don’t think you’re being defensive, although I do think all of us here tend to get defensive about her. You make some excellent, valid points. The media is freewheeling when it comes to Hillary. They have nothing to go on..This is their way of making a story where there is no story.
