Hillary was honored last night at the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston’s annual gala. Congratulations, Mme. Secretary!
Hillary Clinton took a break last night from her book tour about her loss in the presidential election to promote the value of “kindness” and mentorship to children.
Before an audience of about 500 at the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston’s annual gala at the Museum of Fine Arts, Clinton said the reason she is so devoted to doing what she can on behalf of children, particularly those who are vulnerable, is because of her mother.
Clinton has spent much of the past few months on the road around the nation touting her book, “What Happened,” blaming her 2016 presidential loss on Russian interference, and denouncing President Trump. She sounded a different note at last night’s event.
The #Me Too Movement named Time Person of the Year. And the entire story was produced by women, according to Charlotte Alter. This is very good news.
Meanwhile, Al Franken’s support among his Democratic colleagues is rapidly collapsing. It appears he will have to resign. This is certainly not good news, but it is necessary. There is a context to this story with which many non-Minnesotans are not familiar.
First of all, Franken basically had the field cleared for him by Dem party officials back in 2008 because he was a fund-raising juggernaut. It’s not likely he ever would have won the primary with any real opposition. The party leadership ignored the numerous red flags already waving around Franken’s long history of insulting and demeaning women.
Second, in addition to the sexual abuse which is bad enough, Franken lied repeatedly to Minnesota voters in order to win this Senate seat. He admitted as much in his most recent book, Giant of the Senate, when he wrote that he regretted apologizing for things like his Lesley Stahl rape comments which he continues to characterize as a “joke”. He asserts that he had to apologize in order to become a Senator. That tells you all you need to know about his current round of “apologies”. I think he considers us a bunch of dumb rubes. Well, turns out the only joke is on him. Governor Dayton will find a worthy (hopefully female) replacement for this phony creep. Count me not sorry for him but very sorry for the women he has tried to humiliate for far too long.
